Sonic ballistic Hunt, - a Danish Fragmenting lead free bullet, - have anyone tried it?

Hello everyone, since Denmark is going completely lead free in terms of allowed rifle hunting ammunition from 2023, i have to start reloading for my 7x57 and 6.5x57, and of course in the process also chose some non lead bullets to reload with.
Now I was intially thinking about the classic extremely high weight rentention ones, like peregrine vrg4 or the fox hunter classic, but then i just stumbled across these ones:

So my questions are: have anyone on here tried it? if so what were your experiences and impressions of it, and is it something you'd recommend over the non fragmenting style of lead free bullets, and why or why not?

Here you can see them in use in Africa, but bear in mind the producer of the video seems to be the bullet manufactorer himself, which of course could be significant.

Not a fan of the petals that break off. On perfect broadside shots on Muntjac, Roe and Fallow there is a vey good chance that one of those petals will end up south of the diaphragm.

@Mods: if you want to merge the two threads that is of course more than fine with me, and i apologize for not having checked more thoroughly if there was another thread in existence on this very subject, before starting this one.

Not a fan of the petals that break off. On perfect broadside shots on Muntjac, Roe and Fallow there is a vey good chance that one of those petals will end up south of the diaphragm.

This very thing was also one of my thoughts, as one of the potential cons. You have a better chance of terminal effect even with a less than ideal shot, but at the same time you also have a greater chance of making a mess out of the carcass even with an otherwise "good" shot.
I guess if one is worried about not having enough speed at the time of impact for a non frangible to expand well enough this petal system could help, but then again how many of us shoot at those distances?

Yes tried the .270 125gr. Loaded at 54.5gr of rs60 at their reccomend OAL. Sika and red stags don't like um and fall over nicely. You also get a fantastic audible strike sound that's just like a leas round hitting a deer. If your shooting roe then put the bullet a touch forward or the petals might just nick the stomach. Other then that a fantastic bullet.

Obviously as a Dane, it would be nice to buy nationally, but only if the bullets are up to scratch, of course.

I'll mainly be harvesting for myself and some friends and family, so i dont have to worry about game dealers just yet. But a clean carcass is always a good thing!

As you are in Italy you could buy the Talon press as it is made there.

Hello Bavarianbrit unfortunately i just moved back home, to Denmark :/

I think it will be a co-ax for me, as i like the simplicity and cleanyness of it, although the mec, for the price especially, also look good, and the co-ax isnt exactly cheap in comparison. Do you operate any of these two presses? And do you have any experience with the Sonic bullet?

I do share this concern, although as suggested by yellow belly one can possibly compensate for this with slightly adjusting the POA/POI.
If the manufactorers statement about a 15-20 degree spread angle of the petals is correct, on should perhaps avoid shooting too far back with these, as well as not look to shoot quartering too, or if one does take a quaterting to shot, aim for a more fwd lying poi, like for example the Hilar zone?

Like any tool, this sonic bullet will likely have things it does better, and things it does worse.

I do not use those presses, I picked up new a Dillon 550 not used much mut retired after the pistol ban in the UK also a new Redding 25 turret press (still unused) plus an RCBS Rockchucker that is my user press during my time in the states they then came to UK in 1995 then onto Germany in 2002 have a couple of gunshow finds too older like an orange Lyman but of cast iron builds. The MEC gets rave reviews for its accuracy and tight tolerances, I tried to source one here but it seem to be unavailable in Germany.

I too was trying to find a used press in good condition, as i for several reasons see little sense in everyone bying brand new stuff, when there are loads of perfectly good and operational used items out there.

As for the Mec, that sounds odd. I am pretty sure that we can buy it in Denmark, and given that DE is our neighbour, and in the EU, i imagine they can send it to you without too much hassle.
Let me know if it can possibly help, and i'd be happy to.

There's a new range of Swedish mono bullets on the market. Copperbear are the brand. I've loaded Fox classic hunter for my .308 and double 8x57jrs. The 8x57jrs worked well on boar last season.
