WESTON PARK COUNTRY FAIR 17th/18th sept

I'd advise folk to check, as I have, the list of traders. I'm not at all on for silver jewellery, hot tub spas and upcycled tweed products. Nor macrame, pashimas nor swish cocktails. Not to decry those traders but it's not my bag. Not my bag at all.

Got you down as undecided then?

"Bohemian clothing for sale"..... 'nuff said

Bohemian clothing? What like this?

Region: Tábor region, South Bohemia.

This attire is also called "kozácký" folk costume.

Men's national attire is rather simple. It consists of a thin linen shirt without embroidery, trousers, a silk scarf, a waistcoat, a jacket, a long coat, white or blue stockings, and low shoes. The waistcoat was of a simple cut, it was fastened with a row of metal buttons. The jacket was close-fitting without any without embellishment. The long coat was tight-fitting and extended to the waist, made of dark blue or brown cloth. It had small shoulder boards; its sleeves were broad at the shoulder and narrow at the wrist. The trousers were tight-fitting, made of leather, and tied with a string under the knee.

Women's national attire is decorated with floral embroidery. The embroidery usually is on cotton fabric. Women wore linen aprons (called "fertoch"), tied up at the front. They also used white stockings and black shoes. Unmarried girls used white clothing with multicolored ribbons, married women wore clothes of solemn and subdued colors.

"Country fair"

Reads as "Craft gin and artisan fudge, cars displays that will never see a bale of hay or feed in the back, overpriced food and drink, tweed miniskirts and wellies(don't mind these at all, but on women this time please) no gunmakers row, no bargains to be had and lots of people who have a very odd idea of the outdoors"

It was twenty five years ago. Now it's where Travellers do their Christmas shopping. (Removal of goods that they want)

Copied from Wiki,
Shopping is an activity in which a customer browses the available goods or services presented by one or more retailers with the potential intent to purchase a suitable selection of them.
its not quite their idea of shopping at all.

I was talking to an old chap at Chatsworth who had been going to the GF since the early 80s, i'd been going since 87, we both had the same thoughts, that its a shadow of what it used to be, and a very dark one at that.
Not been for 5 or more years now.

Last time I went we paid far too much we walked to gunmakers that lasted hhhmmm all of 10 min at a slow walk then we turned around and walked out! the place was full of travels in flat caps and new tweed trying not to look like gangs of shop thieves ?? that's the last time me and the wife would go to any game fair ! The shooting show at NEC soon followed down the same road an overpriced event for dog walkers.

Think that Is that the one we went to with my mate and they had a cigar smoking room, he kept going back every hour for a glass and a cigar, end of the day he was well gone , didn’t know whether he was Arthur or Martha and stunk like a damp wood shed. Ha ha ha halcyon days    Memory maker
