Looking at getting a .223 for foxing. probably going for a tika for a remmy but not over clued up about what mod to get.
Got an ATEC on my .270, as far as my knowledge goes
Looking for the obvious, quiet and lightweight but not breaking the bank.
Heard the wildcats were good.
Any recommendations would be great.
Thanks

Id recommend the ase SL5i.
IMO id keep away from the wildcat evo, yes you can strip them down but the design is bad where the flame goes onto the cone shaped internal and it burns out quicker than other designed moderators.

I have a stalon x108 and a ase ultra sl5i both in 243cal, stalon is definitely the quieter of the two and lighter

If the ATEC fits, use that. Not worth the money for marginally better performance.

I run SL5i. Solid.

Mate has DPT a bit lighter. Nice

.22 cal surely? OP is asking about .223

The 'hole' thrpough a 20cal DPT (and likely most others) is .256" which in modern money is a bawhair over 6.5mm, which offers a 0.47mm (185 thou) radial clearance on a .224/5.56 bullet.
The largerer the volume of the expansion chamber and the tighter the bore to the bullet the greater the suppression.

Physics not marketing should rule ...

If you could redirect all the hot expanding gasses (that have just shoved the bullet out of the barrel) back into the body of the moderator, cool them and reduce the pressure gently before allowing it to exit the moderators body the BANG would be reduced to a puffff

True, which is also why wrapping the mod in a cold wet towel (and better yet, freezing it afterwards) increases its effectiveness, especially for repeated shots. 🍻

This post is timed well, I’m looking to buy a mod for my 223 and am torn between the wildcat evo and stalon.
last year there was a very good post on the forum where I saw an extensive list of mods showing all dimensions, weights etc, but can’t seem to find the post now 🙈
