Introduction

Hi folks,

I'm joining the site because I have found a lot of useful information on here whilst doing some research with the old .270 or .308. Wont go into that as its a can of worms.
I have been deer stalking Roe for the past 16 years in mainly woodland and semi urban areas in Lanarkshire. Only started on Reds and Sika about 3 years ago by being fortunate enough to get permission in Argyll.

Current helper for a contractor so I've seen the other side of stalking from hobby to work.

I have two rifles at the moment. Tikka T3X lite in .270 and Tikka T3X .308 Super Varmint Cerakote on a GRS Bifrost stock.

It's horrific. For my sanity I'm putting it down to personal preference and trying them both myself

Good shout. I think I've been advised to get every bl**dy calibre that there is! A guy I respect suggested I get a 6.5 x 55 so I'm tempted just to stuff my fingers in my ears and go for that...

Apparently it's flies like a .270 and has the weight a lower recoil of a .308 ..... but who knows
