Light recoiling 12g load

Hi

Has anyone got any recommendations for a light/very light 12g cartridge for someone who is recoil sentive?

I was thinking a 21g load, is there much of a difference between a 21g and 28g?

Any other suggestions?

Of course a 28 gauge or 410 is probably a better way to go but right now that's not possible.

depends on what you are shooting with, a hard butt pad or gas recoil gun. as the second one needs enough RC to cycle the action.
They all have to go bang to achieve the speed in order to work.
Get a .410 sleeve for a 12bore...

Probably best as folk have said, a 21g clay load, and if it's just for use on a clay ground that still allows plastic wads, they have less recoil still.

I think I'd second the above. I'm not a fan of recoil, and I did notice the difference between Caledonian 21g (basically the cheap Eley) and Comp X

Comp X are really nice and soft, 21,24or 28g loads, plastic wad and lighter loads are softer of course but all are nice to shoot.

Some good advice folks, I was actually looking at the comp x, there is dealer nearby that is a stockist, I think il try them!

the mass of the total charge has the biggest effect on the recoil , you shoot a 20% heavier load then expect that approximate amount of extra recoil . Newtons law ! 21 gram kill like a 20 bore might so long as the pattern is good / equal if of same weight

I was using a slab of 21g comp X on crows in summer. They do lose out after 30yds on killing ability. Some fiocchi 24gand 28 were very good in the field.
Would I buy 21g again.....maybe but only for economy. For recoil, they are like a 410 to me.

of course you can now find 21 gram 410 , too much shot imho and too little speed . i have not ever found a 410 that killed reliably well at over 30 . at 30 yards though it kills as well as any shotgun , have shot a lot of hare at up to that range and it was always my fault if anything went wrong

Have been using Gamebore evo for last couple of years at clays, and my scores have improved using them. Several mates have also started to use them with no drop in scores
