Is the 6.5 Creedmoor capable of everything a 7mm Rem Mag is? All game in the UK, including boar.

A well placed bullet off the correct design will kill all required in 6.5 cal. 7 rem mag will do fine too. I don’t believe the “this bullet/calibre knocks them to the ground crap” the death of the quarry is usually blood loss and hemorrhaging, or nervous system failure depending on shot placement. I know plenty who have shot boar with a 243…. If your going 7mm I’d say look at 7mm prc? I think that bullet choice and placement probably means more than calibre and so a gun you can instinctively shoot accurately and a well chosen round matters most. Other I’m sure will disagree

The African poachers gun has possibly taken more than any big bore gun but question is is it humane only a header would shoot an elephant with such calibre

Indeed from what I have seen 7.62x39 if used in profusion will kill anything in Afrika.

The successful hunts are generally based on cameras telling where, and when the boar are coming out. For this type of shooting most CF rifles will do the job, if you're confident to head shoot. Personally, I wouldn't be confident to body shoot, I've seen way too many boar knocked off their feet, only to recover, and run off ! Not Ideal at any time, but especially at night ! In these circumstances, with a competent shot, a 6.5CM is more than adequate. Personally, my go to rifles for this type of shooting, is a 6.5PRC, or a 7x64, which is an AWSOME calibre, even for driven boar, if you're a good shot. I use a 9.3x62, it's better that way

not just poachers: Walter D.M. Bell killed more than 1,011 Elephants himself with the .303, 7mm and 6.5mm rifles.

Bullet choice is always important, and the 270 is a great calibre, but most of the common 6.5's, with a 143g ELD-X, is more than up to the job. I'm getting 3070fps, 143g ELD-X, from my PRC.

I'm sure the recommended "270", is based on something from the EU for driven boar, and has no relevance for shooting boar in the UK. I'd happily use a 243 for head shooting.

More important, is shooting something you can maintain the sight picture with, just in case you do need a follow up shot.

I'd add its true that some that can't hit a small point to kill need a big rifle to offset there inadequacies

Seems like proper shot placement with even a small bullet will do the job - especially from the hide/tree seat.
