Yes it had to happen after i wrote about it (75) missed one last night out of the right side of the high seat at roughly 60 yds
luckily it ran straight down the field and stopped to look round at 95 yds gave me a second chance which to redeem myself
(which i did)
being right handed i do feel shooting off the right side of the high seat a bit unnatural, i cant get comfortable like i can shooting forward or to the left
i seem to rest my right arm on the top of the high seat so nothing can move
but shooting right i cant do this
any body else have this problem?

I generally angle my high seats to the right for this reason (I'm right handed).

my high seat is a big (almost double) wooden one sat against a treeline concreated in and points straight down the field its in
to be honest i only get half a dozen foxes a year come from that side most are in front or left
i might put a drop down rest on the back of the seat just in case but that can wait till the summer

id say vixen mating BenBhoy see if it sounds like an animal in pain and goes on and on thats the one
i had a vixen come in to it big time last week and when i stopped the caller she stood there with her nose in the air
(just like you see a wolf howling at the moon)
just under 150 yds was good enough for me
she was number 3 for the night, the 2 others were short range Dogs

Quick question for you guys;
I've got an Icotec gen2 gc350, the main speaker has an on//off switch, but the handset hasn't.. will the little Duracell MN21/23 battery in the handset be getting a slight current drawn from it all the time, is it best to remove that battery when it's not in use? I've had the unit 6 months, with very little use and I'm on the 2nd battery, and I think it needs another one, it's not switching calls/volume/off properly in the cold, although I got in the house, and warmed it up and it seemed to work better , any ideas?

Quick question for you guys;

Can’t help as mine has an on/off slider switch on the side.
As a side note I’ve changed the battery once in about 2 yrs when it started loosing range.
If you have no switch and don’t use it regular, I would take the battery out

Thanks for the advice.
My main caller body has a slider switch for on/off.
The remote handset has an A - B slider, and a slider switch on the other side for the display backlight, I gather this is not an on/off switch so I'm thinking the unit will be draining the battery unless it's taken out.
I'm going to message Best Fox Calls I think...

is this the same as yours?

IIRC the 500 has an On/Off on the handset, but the 350 does not. I know the 350 does't have one because that's the caller I have. The only switch on the handset for mine is between A and B for the different call lists.

Not trying to teach my granny here, but you are extending the aerial on the handset aren't you ? Leaving it un-extended does reduce viable range I've found.

That slider says Light on/off and is only to switch the backlight on so you can see the button numbers in the dark.

Rob Crampton from Best Fox calls has messaged me back; Saying if the light slider is off and nothing is pressing against any of the buttons there should be no drain on the battery. But the safest way to store the remote handset is to remove the battery.. or make sure nothing can press against a button. I've been careful with mine... I'll start to take the battery out I think.

I was within 6' of it. I've looked at the destructions again and if you press any of the buttons and the LED flashes or flickers it's new battery time, mine is flashing, that battery has only been in a few weeks, but it is the 2nd battery that came with the caller.
My handset has an A -B slider on the right-hand side, and Light on/off slider on the left-hand side.

i keep my hand set in one of the kids old DS game controller hard cases for just the reason rob stated to you
it also keeps it from getting damaged full stop
im a bit of a tackle tart really even my IR torch goes into a pencil case when not on my rifle lol
and my decoy spare batteries screwdriver and decoy heads go in a long Tupperware box just to make my foxing bag neat and tidy

its used at least once a week for id say 4-5 hours

Yes. I'm left handed and have the same issue. I was tought to shoot off both shoulders in the Army and am OK shooting from the right, but it isn't intuitive and takes longer.
Last night was perfect example with a Fox sat up off to my left at 200 yards. I just couldn't get a good enough position to shoot from so left it for another night.
Something we have to live with.

I've used the Duracell batteries that came with the caller, which I brought about 6 months ago new, the batteries may be old stock , I'll pick some new ones up today . Thanks for the advice.

i use BONAI AA rechargeable batteries in the caller they seem fine
and a OKCELL 9volt rechargeable in my hand set
my decoy and scope also take the AA batteries
so 12 used sometimes and four as spares (just in case) but never had to use them
i charge the AA,s before i go out
and the following day when ive been out apart from the ones in the scope which i swap just before i go out but leave them in to keep the date and time in-between trips

I've found that rechargeable batteries reduce range quickly, probably because they are rated at 1.2 rather than 1.5 volts. I now get energizer industrial batteries from my electrical wholesaler, cheaper and last ages
