As title says, I’ve got the opportunity of a Freelander 2 2010 model with low miles, so thinking it could make a nice shooting bus as
i don’t really need the pick up anymore as I don’t tow cattle anymore.
Just wondering what your experiences are with these vehicles good bad ugly, manual gearbox xs model.
cheers

My wife had one.

She called it the "Three Grander". That's what it cost every time it went in the garage.

Says the bloke with a 110.🤑

Had one for years and loved it, very capable on and off road.

Wouldn't sell it if it wasn't for the bloody ULEZ

Says a man who has maybe never owned one? - apologies if I'm wrong.

We're on our second & that is only because we had to move the first one on as it was manual & SWMBO can no longer drive manual cars due to dodgy knees.

Very capable cars & great to drive on a daily basis.
Your right. I've never owned one but in my defense a lot of my friends have, and other land rover products of all types and nope, I can not recommend them. I have owned a 110 pick up and a swb 2a if it helps.
Sorry🤷.
Was the phrase ' bullet proof' ever applied to a land rover product?

I have had two, both brilliant would go anywhere, put 30000 on the first not an issue. The second moved on last month to go down to one car. Replaced the freelander and a Mercedes GLA with a Skoda Yeti. The freelander is an all together better of road shooting vehicle. The yeti so far I find a better crossover vehicle with decent MPG and reasonable off road performance, i need to add decent tyres.

I would wholeheartedly recommend the freelander if you don’t have a daily work commute it is a thirsty motor. Of it is to be used as a shooting weekend vehicle a cracking car.

They are neither a 4x4 or a car only had them as a curtesy car. Very reliable as long as you park it up and leave it. They might be ok taking someone to a 500 bird driven with a fancy ( Lancashire) gun.

I've had one last five years, normal maintenance in that time and love the car. I use it on road and mainly farm tracks with general grabbers fitted. I dont do off roading as such nor high mileage, so mpg is ok for me.

Had two 110s & they were both carp! First was a new V8 110 Hi-cap in 1986 & the metal hadn't been primed properly before painting so a quick was with a jet wash removed large amounts of it! Drove OK but was VERY thirsty, no idea about reliability as only had it a year! Second was a 110 DCPU which road like he suspension was wooden blocks, leaked like a sieve & had the turning circle of a tanker - kept it 18 months then replaced with a V8 Discovey 2 😎

Also had a SWB 2 & a SWB 2a - the only things to burn that much fuel & not fly!!

Like most complex mechanical devices they need looking after properly - skimp on maintenance & they'll let you down!

My 09 manual is just short of 190,000 and doing about 34mpg. It’s had a few niggles but only have had to recovered once when the fuel transfer pump failed. Lovely to drive on the road and capable off with the right tyres if ground clearance isn’t an issue. The wider tyres don’t seem to cut through the snow as well as my old Freelander 1 though.
