That has surprised me and seems to be a ridiculous law. Many here also use new/ old oil drums to carry fuel for farm equipment out in paddocks. Its very common to see a 44 gal drum in a ute (with a hand pump installed) getting around the place.re-use of these isn't allowed here . The seller has to decommission the old vessels
diesel seaping into ground water , rivers and steams, under foundations, etc etc are really very bad things indeed ! Nothing silly about it .That has surprised me and seems to be a ridiculous law. I remember Alby Mangels travelling in the Pacific on his yacht in the 70`s that made the World Safari series. He found a supply of 44 gal drums of diesel on an uninhabited island left behind by WW11 US forces "that was perfect" he said and loaded his tanks up.another reason fuel is stored long term in double skinned tanks
