Hi all,
Fairly new to reloading but im trying to find the oal for 125gr pro hunter soft points #2120 for .308 if anyone can help..

I've tried the app but can't log in and can't find elsewhere.
At max OAL of 2.8" the head is only seated by about 3mm which doesn't feel much, and gives a bit of room for powder... Only loading min charge of 44.1gr N140
Thanks

Hmmm. Viht 140 max is something like 47.1 gns from memory but do check!
With such a light charge you have plenty of wriggling room - do the old skool hacksaw trick - cut down the case neck to the shoulder, squeeze the neck enough to grab and hold a bullet which has been seated as shallow as you can make it, then chamber it gently and close the bolt. Gently lift and pull back the bolt and ease the now chamber-sized round out; measure COAL and repeat until you get a consistent uniform length which becomes your point of reference for that bullet only in that rifle. Now you can experiment with seating depths - NB ask ten reloaders and you will get 10 differing answers on this so I suggest reduce COAL by 50 thou and then experiment with COALs and powder charges (small increments) until you are content with your ammo’s performance. Repeat for each different weight/shape/brand of bullet.
Simples but be careful!

I seat mine to 68mm, with 45gr of RS40 they’re doing just over 3000 fps, not recommend for anything you may want to consume!

Good, I can’t say that I’ve used them on deer. I based my comment on what they do to a fox at that velocity.
