Anyone ever mounted a scope onto a k31 swiss 7.5x55
Old age and bad eyes don't go well with iron sights ..lol
I have seen a few scope mounts available albeit not from UK sources but wondering if anyone has had one fitted and which mount they preferred?

I have one of these though I’ve never used in anger but a buddy gas one and he finds it rock solid

Ive had that mount on my K31, it works fine for the scope... but you cant use stripper clips and when it come to ejecting the fired case about 1 in 4 bounce back into the breech and the jams the bolt.

I have a side mount Swiss products on my K31.
No problem with it at all.
It's a doddle to load a detached mag or top load in to the mag in the rifle so not too worried about stripper clips.
Not had a problem with ejection either.

Had a scout mount scope (in place of the rear sight), but moved on to original diopter and tunnel front sight.

Works very well when I do my bit and more satisfying than a scope.

I had one on my K31 , like yours , it worked perfectly . I ended up giving it to a buddy a few years back and have always meant to get another , I procrastinate sometimes . For some reason , I've been shooting my K11 more these days anyway , I'm actually starting to prefer it to the K31 . I bought a Swiss products 100 yard zero front sight last year for the K11 . It shoots to point of aim at 100 yards using the lowest setting ( 300 yards ) on the rear sight . It'll be going out for deer next fall . Swiss products are really well made .

Planning on using in anger I’m afraid, it’s conditioned for deer but I want to take one with the irons first!
You'd fit right in out here with the clan . We do an iron sight only , ex military rifle , deer hunt every November . There's everything from Mauser 71/84s to Lungman AG42s , Tokarev SVT-40s and every bolt action you can think of . I have noticed a lot more K31s over the last few years , lovely rifles . I've been looking around for a decent Ross lately . There's a certain resident of Montana that's a member here that has far too many for his own good , hmm .

Have a slot for a .303 and planning to add 45-70 once the hornet is sold.

K31s are just lively rifles, have shot mine out to 1000 yards. I just need to finish finding a load regulated to the irons, everything I have tried so far just shoots too high to be practical

Swiss products sell a 100 yard zero front sight for the K31 as well , they fit perfectly and , more importantly , they work . If memory serves , iffy at best , they run about $ 20 USD . Drop me a PM if your interested .

I am due at Bisley in the morning.

We have booked the 300 for the morning and the 1,000 for the afternoon.

One of the reasons I am taking my K31 is that it is zeroed (apparently) at 300 yards.

All cars wait...

It does make the K11 much easier to hit with . There are also a number of K31s that had a shorter front sight installed after leaving service . This was done to allow for a six o'clock hold on regulation target . Most were left as issue , but it isn't unusual to find K31s that were altered in this way . There is a Swiss Shooting Club that shoots at my Club , I've become friends with a few of them ( one of them sold me my K11 ) . About a third of their rifles have the shorter front sight installed . Some guys like it , some don't . If I were using mine solely for target shooting , the six o'clock hold would make sense , but I hunt with mine and prefer that the POI is right on top of my front sight .

He's a muscular guy that smells suspiciously of Black Powder and bullet lube with a hint of lead . He's a good guy , but has a sickness for obscure Canadian straight pulls . I fear an intervention may be required . Apparently he can be distracted with antique sewing machine parts and Montreal Canadian hockey jerseys . I intend to cross the border in darkness with a 1920s singer sewing machine and a counterfeit Maurice " Rocket " Richard Habs jersey . It will be dangerous , but it's for his own good , stay tuned .

that would be a local to you adaption I would guess, as the Swiss standard target distance is 300m so no need for a shorter sight on the K31

Yes , it is . It's common enough that Swiss Products tooled up and sells the taller front sight specifically for the K31 . There are a number of Swiss shooting associations in Canada and the US , there are about five in Alberta . It started out a long time ago and did originally stick with Swiss service standards , over the years it's changed and morphed into something fairly different . Are there any Swiss shooting associations in the UK ?

A really interesting , and helpful , video was put out by Bloke on the range regarding the rather unique , some say weird , sight settings on the K31 . It's titled , Blokesplaining the K31 rifle sights , it's a very informative watch . BOTR is one of my favourite youtube channels , he covers stuff outside the usual range of firearms interest .
