A list of stupid things for a man to do...

What will that 'number/measurement' tell me - apart from "X number of layers of tape is Y thick"?
Wether or not you need to weld the bolt lugs and grind back.
You'll need a Tig set, stellex rods and a 4&1/2" grinder.
Probably do it with the farmers old stick welder and some hard facing rods and his old 9" grinder if you can get the Mrs to hold the bolt real tight 👍🏻

Are you mad? A welder and a grinder?

Not at all, get'm bought and go shoot.

Turns out to be the hardest thing in the world to do.😳

They do not deliver.

Their address is 'discreet'.

However, they do get to Bisley for the Phoenix Meet, and I have reserved a couple of hundred 165gr 0.316" hard cast lead bullets.

As I said to them:-

"No rush. It's a work in progress".

It may be interesting to see if the bullets perform better with copper base cups or without, they certainly make higher velocities possible but can be a pain on reloading

If the source of the copper bases required old English farthings to be sourced, sized and fitted I think the OP would be all over the suggestion.
This is too easy.

With.
What is a pain about reloading gas-checked ("copper cups") bullets? ~Muir

If you’re dies aren’t set up quite right they can cause dramas when seating, the case decapper/expander die usually needs setting to allow a slightly wider base than for an fmj

If you don't expand the necks as stated above you'll have more problems than you think. ~Muir
