Lifting large deer into pickup

Yes Tim its a fatal error removing anything that can be used as a handle or lifting aid. Best place is back at the cooler for removing heads and feet.
When I visit the game dealer to "unload" the pickup or trailer. Its done with a fork lift and pallet. Never in the last 18 years have I seen them use a gambrel.
Three or four deer per pallet, they are then lifted in the weighing facility and then put on hooks.
Dogs travel in there designated area in the cab with me.
Load space on the truck bed is far to valuable to be used up with anything else. ;)

Mine are backed up to Ben Rigbys doors his lads put a single hook through one hock off his hoist out the back of the truck then switched on to his rail system then onto the scales the same way his big lorrys do just they have a transfer rail like shelling peas... Ben gets through a few deer..
@Norfolk Deer Search Lee has his Reds on a forklift cleaned out then on my hangers straight into the chiller via FLift

This farmer wants them cleaned out at his muck heap away from the main wood with his pens so comes and gets them, I clean them out then in the truck and home.. I just do as they ask which is local and every one is happy.

Nice one Tim you can't beat a bit of name dropping.
You know just to validate what circle's you move in. It helps with climbing the ladder for the position you crave.
But to finalise things a winch set up is ideal, pulley system too and any other method that you guys can come up with.
Its load space thats crucial just ask our Lee. :thumb:

Really using a pallet is a bit old hat, personally I’m not used pallet to unloader for six or seven years, all Gambrill and forklift time, no sweat required all mechanical!

Doing it that way is old hat and too much effort you need a quad bike and a winch mr old cocker, I’ve not personally not manhandled the red deer in donkeys years that’s what an engine is for!

Well as he is the only dealer near me who else do I quote to explain how it works
Besides my hand crank mangle hoist lifts just more than deer as you have to pay the bills with a real job so when the big mig has to go in the back I use that...As only a very few take a good wage from deer the rest (like me) get to play at it :old:

As you can see that "old hat" basic set up works for me. Quad available when needed.
With regards the use of pallets when unloading. That's the game dealers business not mine.
Tight lines and good hunting me ole cocker :tiphat:
