Drone (flying one not scope)

If it's got a camera and not marketed as a toy then you need to register it with the CAA. It used to be if it was smaller than 250g you didn't have to but the rules changed. You also have to keep them within naked eye sight at all times.
Yep but “keeping the bas drone in sight“ can be a little tricky especially when it gets to any real height and you discover that the gentle breeze so well suited to flying is a howling gale up there which your little treasure cannot fight - so off it goes! Mine is still “going off” 2 years later - from Perthshire, probably about Norway now.
Got some nice footage though - just before it got out of wiffy range. I am sure that as it disappeared off across the glen I could see one rotor pointing skywards in a final salute. The more awake astute members may note the endearingly panic-stricken ol’ FB furiously pushing all the remote control buttons - clearly not necessarily in the right order.
Lord how I laughed Ha Ha Ha……

Remote control anyone? Used only once….

I have the DJI Mavic 2 and a commercial ticket

I intend(ed) to use the Mav in an anti poaching role

Things to consider for me are/were

Flight time and range - perhaps the most important in that role
Camera - the Mav has a Hasselblad which is fine
On board and remote video storage
Battery size (airline restrictions)
Recharging time - this has a bearing on number of batteries to carry and amount of time it is likely to be used in a day

I would recommend that everyone flying a drone does the basic pilots license (and registers their drone) - this used to be a 20 question multichoice having read the course materials

It gives you a basic understanding of your rights, obligations etc when flying a drone

Is it big drone? Because I really do not want be liable for a drone licence, and, as I know, big ones require a registration and licensing. And I wonder how it can spot deer in a forest, even with thermals - maybe a large group as at least one will be in an open area, but not 2-3 hiding in the bush...
The registration and licencing is not a big deal. The reading up on rules and regulations and taking the test (all online) can be done in less than an hour and costs £9 to get your CAA drone pilot's licence! I use a 2nd-hand DJI Phantom 4 Pro (£500 from eBay), with a high resolution camera - it's a lovely piece of kit for looking around your ground, and has lots of built-in sensors to ensure you don't fly into a tree or other obstacles.

Possibly the bargain of the year……. I’ll let you know.
That's a very good price so I bought one. Got a 128gb SD card off them too. I'm going to get a spare battery and off drone charger as suggested by @snake_2586 as well. Thanks very much to you both for this. I was thinking about it before but that price decided it for me. I guess it's cheaper because they've brought out the Mini 3?

The mini 3 has been out for a good few months now, maybe they are just trying to clear stock, I think my mini 2 is a great little drone, wearing combats, I can put the drone in one leg pocket the controller in the other and the batteries in the back pocket and off I go, I have everything I need, for the larger drones you need to take a bag to carry it.

I also seem to be able to get a lot closer to deer with the small one, they don't like the air 2s, but seem to just watch the mini.

Cheapest place for SD card and spare batteries was Acratech as well and I got an off drone charger from DJI themselves.

Been on Acratech website and it will only allow me to put 1 item into my basket at any one time, anyone had the same experience ?

Just tried it and I could only put one thing in the cart at once. I can change from one battery to two but if I try and add something else different like a drone it loses the original thing. When I bought the drone, SD card and batteries yesterday I did 3 orders

I connected them to add the SD card. They messaged me back saying as I bought a drone there will be no carriage charge

acratech.co.uk have no Trustpilot reviews which (personally) is always a big red flag. If you follow the Trustpilot link at the top of their page it directs you to acratech.net which is seemingly totally unrelated.

If it were me I would be wary of what seems too good to be true. If it's alright then I might be tempted to buy one myself!

Just awaiting delivery ( Argos ) of the Mini 3 got it as a kit, should be here before 6pm can't wait to have a play, this will be my first drone.

I agree, the company is registered at companies house as Dronescend Ltd. The accounts don't suggest a particularly busy company.

Found this I still have not had a email to say I bout one. Even though I have a picture of the sale
