Yerr, that’s why I haven’t been using mine so much, it’s cheaper to reload for my .22 hornet.Brilliant calibre for those rabbits our of reach of the 22lr. Certainly converted a lot of 22lr shooter's, but as with everything, the price of ammo is on the rise.
I missed the boat with hm2 and always wished I had tried one. I can see that it would very useful indeed and safer!I have a few of them. Only used on paper so far, as there are bugger all rabbits around here at the mo. But it's an interesting round.
I even picked up a 17HM2 recently, just to tat with. But not tried buying ammunition yet. (It seems to have gained popularity and the manufacturers are producing it again.)
Hmmm. This was very much Steve Hornady’s rather robust line a few years ago when interviewed about his hmr cases splitting - “nothing wrong with our ammo - the problem is your guns”.I bought a second hand CZ 455 in 17HMR a few years ago. A look in my spent cases box revealed about 1 in 10 split along the case neck. Then I bought a new barrel and since then the number has dropped to around 1 in 25 or 30. I've therefore concluded that the problem has more to do with the machining of the chamber than problems with ammo manufacture, although its probably a bit of both.
PhilistineHad one. Sold it. Too noisy and after having a round stuck up the tube, just didn't like it.
I've shot close to houses and I'm always surprised when I ask if they heard the shot and they say no!Think the 17 HMR is a great round , Bit loud for when you are shooting next to the houses But once you are doing the job dont think they will mind![]()
