FYI, the UK government is going to be sending a 'test' nationwide alert out to all phones on Sunday the 23rd of April 2023.

If you wish to avoid nusance which in the very least is an infringement of privacy, you can set your Apple or Andriod smartphone to not receive this message.

For an Andriod, simply enter the menu and type 'emergency' into the top search bar to generate this screen:



Following this, you can turn OFF all 'emergency' notifications.

Some new nonsense.
Government sending "emergency alerts" to your phone to warn you of dangers in your area, such as fire, flood etc.
Test run on the 23rd, apparently.

Yeah, you have to acknowledge them before you can use your phone again or it just stays on the screen.

Blocked it the same as I did with the test & trace phone numbers.

My phone is going to make a noise??? How very DARE they! A horrible intrusion of my liberty! Don’t they realise the mental anguish this will cause me?? I shall never be the same again. I’m booking in for some PTSD treatment in advance.

Or you could think they are actually trying to be helpful, whether you think it’s good or not. And you can turn it off anyway. There are worse things in the world to worry about.

In a severe weather situation , you'll need to put your coat on , but , in an extreme weather situation, you'll need to put your hood up , and pull it tight with those little toggle things .
