Looking for recommendations for .22 bolt action with a scope

I know of a brand new 457 never been fired at the right money a trusted friend of mine is selling due to not ever using it

Sounds interesting - can you get more details? Caliber, exact model, barrel length, synthetic or wood stock, any accessories that he wish to part with e.g. magazines or scope etc.... thanks!

I started out with an (expensive) T1X as a day/night solution then bought a 1417 Anschutz for £64 ay an auction, as a dedicated night time beater.

I've sold my T1X. I only use my 23 year old 1417 for both scenarios now. The action, trigger, barrel quality and overall compact size made it the best tool for the job for me.

The Annie would do all you need and for a lot less than Tikka or indeed CZ.....and guess it's really about if you want it to look a certain way as well as perform. 👍

As far as I know it’s a synthetic 22lr with a brand new sak mod I’ll ring him for you and find more details.

BTW, my slot is for ".22 rifle", so I don't think I can get a gun with a moderator unless I apply for a variation? Does anyone know? Thanks.

Have a look at cz's pound for pound the best you can get currently.

Cheap, accurate and well made, Personally i couldn't justify an annie an the price they are!

Mines a 16" bull barrel with thumbhole and its absolutely brilliant it's more accurate than I will ever be

Not a bolt action but had a browning T.bolt for years in 22LR. Synthetic stock and a great rifle. Super quick to reload and taken many many rabbits. Have a CZ in 17hmr and impressed with that too.

Thanks for all your advice.

Based on the recommendations here, and having looked-up reviews and pricing online, currently in my sights (pun intended) is the following:

CZ 457, 16" barrel (preferably), Synthetic (preferably).

If buying knew, that's what I'll try and specify, if buying second hand then it will obviously depend on what's available.

As per my previous posts, I have a BSA Century with iron sites, and until recently also a CZ 99 Precision with a scope. The CZ 99 was great until it broke down, and no spares are available. So another - new model - CZ seems to make sense.

Other than the rather limp ejection on my Weihrauch HW60, it's as good a .22 as you can buy for the money. Without doubt they have one of the very best triggers in the business. But if I was in the market for a new rifle now I'd probably go with Sako or Tikka. Partly because they eject better and also because I'm not that keen on the HW's schnabel fore end.

Many thanks for all your advice.

Further to my post #31 above, I have found this exact rifle for sale second hand on gunstar, and I am now the proud owner of a CZ 457 Synthetic with 16" barrel and a scope. My old bi-pod fits it perfectly. Job done :)

Thank you all again!

Thanks, as per my post above I just purchased a CZ 457 without moderator, as this is what my FAC will allow me without applying for a variation.

Brilliant great rifles
After speaking to my pal regarding his 457
Thinking he’s having second thoughts on selling.
