22-250 load data

Hi there
My friend has just purchased a new Tikka lite 20" barrel in 22-250. I am going to be reloading for him and wanted to know what powder people are using.
My gun dealer has some IMR 4166 and 50g Blitzkings.

Will be using Lapua brass with CCI large rifle primers. The rifle will only be used for foxing with NV.

Anyone using this powder?

Cheers
Gwyn

Thats the new Vargent I believe ....
Can't help as I haven't used that specific powder..
I use Vhit N135 here with 40 and 50gr Sierra Blitzkings and N140 for the 55gr Varminter/SP gameking.
I have a T3 with a 20" barrel too.

My load data wouldn't be suitable for your rifle and i'm not using Lapua brass either, so the capacities/pressures would be different.
There doesn't appear to be a lot of load data for IMR4166 (which I guess is why you're are asking here) there is quite a bit for the (currently available) Vihtavuori powders though.

Aye, same as Will. 36grn of N140 in Lapua brass with a Fed or CCI primer and almost any 50,52 and 55-grain bullet and you'll have a cracking load.

Same rifle as me, all I could get hold of at the time was CFE223 which I understood to favour heavier bullets, however I have had excellent results with both 50gr Vmax and 55gr Blitzkings, although both with the same stout load of 39 grains. Velocity for the Vmax is equalling my factory Norma with the same bullet and accuracy is sub 0.5 MOA for both.

All brilliant info, thanks guys. Twist is 1in14 I believe but will check. Sierra have load data for the 4166. So will see if I can also get the Vit powder.

From what I can see, 5min Google search, imr owned by hodgdon are stopping making the imr enduron powders. How true that is I don't know.
That’s interesting as these were the replacements for the banned powder. I will look into that. Cheers for the heads up.

My dad , myself and father in law, all have tikka t3x in 22-250 .

All use 50grain heads ( different manufacturers)

But all use IMR 4166 - all 3 guns love 35 grains of IMR with 50 grain bullets.

My REM isn’t 1 in 14 I think and same as above Lapua brass CCI primers, 36grains of N140 and 50grain ballistic tips or vmax, perfect, accurate and clean burning round for me. 🦊 don’t appreciate it much though. 😂
