Scope advice

I’m looking for a new stalking scope and finding it difficult to find one that ticks my boxes;

- variable - up to 10 or 12 x mag is plenty
- lightweight and low profile
- 50mm objective max
- simple, uncluttered reticle
- no side focus/parallax adjustment.
- non-illuminated
- sub £600

I thought this list would be an easy ask but everything I’ve looked at so far falls short in one way or another - Vortex, hawke, Delta, etc, all seem to have complicated reticles or side focus which I find a faff and don’t want.

What I’m really after is the equivalent of a zeiss duralyt 3-12x50 or similar as I have one and think it’s very good. Would just prefer new over SH ideally.

Is there anything out there that I’m missing?

Would you consider S&B 8x56? Keep it simple and pretty bombproof.

I would go with the Delta personally. It has a 10yr warranty and you will not get a better new scope for the money in my opinion. I think this one in the link below would serve you well. It doesn't have side focus which means the illumination knob is a little less obvious.

It has very very good glass both in terms of contrast, FOV, colouration, edge to edge as well as being really good at last light. It is not really heavy, it is not overly big but it is solid and robust. The reticle is nice and simple and fuss free and the centre dot illumination (if you do choose to use it) is very very good.

Less than £500

Meopta has been around forever and is a proper manufacturer with its own facilities, instead of a company that puts its name on contracted-out production, and they have some very nice options (both new and on the secondary market) that fit the description if you want quality Euro glass.

Another for Meopta.

Below... will leave Vortex and Hawke in the dark.

I’m intrigued with but one requirement of the Op’s perfect scope:

No side focus/parallax adjustment

Please explain this madness!

Just something to faff with and a distraction that I’ve never found necessary at the ranges I shoot at. I have a Delta titanium with side parallax adjustment which serves a purpose for rear NV add on, but otherwise I can happily live without it. I find the Delta very good but it’s bulky and heavy compared to my duralyt

You must be a young man if there’s no discernible benefit. If Let me know if this is still the case when you hit 60!

If only it had the 4 or Zplex reticle

The meopro 4-12x50 is looking like a very strong candidate. Hadn’t seen that, so cheers! A mate has a meopta and is very happy with it.

Nice! Meopta is seriously underrated in my opinion; everything they make is quality and value for money, and their very top end compares well with the big German and Austrian names.
