Large rifle primer availability?

Recently paid £98 for 1K SPPs.
Happy enough to use them in place of SRPs after some testing.
Ken.
Cups can be thinner and unable to take the extra pressures . However having a stink load of SPP and hardly any SRP - needs must ! will be wearing my saftery specs till i have quite a few shot safely though

I have a hard time getting these in the US. ~Muir
Muir, out of interest, how close to you are your 'local' gun shops? Our biggest expense is traveling to and from places to buy and places to shoot.
If I have to drive a hundred miles, perhaps, I am going to buy more than 100 primers!
I possibly have enough components to last the rest of my life. 3 years since I shot a deer, but punch a lot of paper, most days in fact.

I have now fired over 70 22 Fireball rounds, a mix of 40 grain and 52 grain bullets over 16 and 13.9 grains of Lil’gun respectively.
Can’t see any difference looking at the fired primers or at the targets from when I use SRPs.
Ken.
PS. I still wear specs though.

i do just that also in 22 hornet and never had an issue both being small cartridges using what is essentially a shotgun powder . its certainly more dodgy on other cartriges and powders and we should proceed with some caution

Is there a performance reason why pistol primers have thinner cups? It can't be for economy of material, surely.

Pistols have less firing pin strike energy so for reliability the thinner caps are used plus generally operate at a much lower pressure than a rifle.

Funny thing is I offered a shed load of Small cci mag and small cci standard primers up only one taker on some the rest I gave to a club shooter !
Also some may remember the tubs of powder I burnt as no one wanted it ?

Difference between those two is, 43000 c.u.p. for Hornet and 52000 for Fireball case. That's a bit more than Triple two pressure.

If you'd offered free delivery I'm sure someone would have helped you out and taken your unwanted stuff off your hands, even if only to save you having to play with fire and risk burning yourself!
Ken.

Thats one of the draw backs that SD is renowned for ! that is feeling that postage or delivery should be part of the sale price ? even though the sale is cheap enough in the first place for them to wont it lol.
But if the seller do's this then there fuel and time is an even greater loss on the item ! I do wonder how they get anything in the post if they don't pay post or go collect it as I do and many others are happy to do .

I'v asked many a time at the post office if they would send items for free and deliver powder and primers unlawfully but funny enough they have yet to agree !

PS I'v delivered for free and driven too collect if I wanted an item in the passed isn't that just what normal folk do anyway ! apart from that its just nice to watch pot and pots of powder burn sometimes it sends out a nice warm glow.

Bugger must have missed that as I'd have found a way to get the standard sr primers from you via mates in Essex and/or Bisley 😢

There was a stall at the Phoenix today which appeared to have plenty of CCI primers plus a goodly showing of Viht & RS powders - CCI 400 primers were advised at £15/100 so who knows how much they wanted for the powder… I walked on.
Heard from a competitor yesterday that the price had gone up to £300 for 1000 😳 - didn't see this myself but if it's true then it's robbery pure & simple!!

A couple of the stalls were insisting that you could only buy power and primers together as a package, you could buy powder on its own but not primers.
