I am happy that you may feel ok about it but I assure you sir, thousands of us are not happy at all!

Yes muzzle loaders will have to use bismuth or better still get an exemption. I get a lot of people are unhappy but most of the extremely unhappy people I speak to haven’t actually shot non lead so it would be better if they tried it before forming an opinion in my view. Perhaps you have personal experience in which case fair enough just saying that’s all.

I have used tungsten matrix in my muzzloaders but it is far to expensive for vermin shooting.

Here’s how I’d police it, and this ain’t rocket science.
You ban lead ammunition, its sale, possession or use in 2 phases.
Phase 1 is the transition phase where you get to use or exchange your existing stock of lead ammunition pending the lead ban implementation on a stated date.
Phase 2, After the transition period, with the ban legally in place, you carry out inspections of dealers, ranges and individual firearms owners and come down like the wrath of God on anyone with a single “ illegal” cartridge in their possession.
You monitor game dealers and use those lovely traceable labels to identify estates and individuals still using lead post ban.
You routinely prosecute, fine and revoke FAC’s for illegal use and possession post ban.

Its simple and its staring you in the face.

You forgot the commensurate increase in the cost of both a Shotgun License and FAC to allow for suitable Home Office/Police resource to enforce this change in law. After all, only the shooting community could come up with such a home goal and then welcome the policing of such with open arms and their wallet!

4s all the way, steel is faster than lead for longer and penetrates easier in my opinion, which generally is not worth a lot.

Steel is faster to start but lows far quicker that lead, both physics and videos prove it.

I’m new to this forum, I’m also passionate about my sport and shooting in general so have to be careful and don’t want to come across as argumentative but… if you couldn’t consistently hit a static target at 40 yards with a shotgun should you really be shooting (not you personally, the royal you as it were) live quarry at all?

I want to see the person who can hit a goose head static every time at 40 yards with a shotgun, simply not possible in the real world and a lifetime of shooting, sometimes with some of the best shots in the world and I have never seen anyone not miss geese flying or hit wondered birds on the ground constantly.

The world is not going to end without lead ammunition. With sensible choices we can pretty much carry on as normal. .410 and .28 bore will be useless but 20 and 12 will do fine and sensible ranges. Centre fire rifles also will do fine. My only real worry is rimfires where there are yet to exist accurate loads at even reduced ranges. That been my personal experience anyway.

Please tell me where the shot for 20 and 12b will come from? there is world shortage! the main manufacturers are struggling to find what they need.

I belong to a national shooting orginisation, and I would guess that most of the members here belong to one as well. They are meant to be our collective political voice, and look after our interests in times of trouble, and negotiate on our behalf with the Government of the day on major issues. Where are they positioned in this current mess ? Well, actually, they got us into it ! All the lot of them rushed headlong into a "voluntary" decision to go away from lead. No thoughtwent into their actions. No common sence. No idea as to where it may go. But what is even worse, no consultation. We were sold down the river. They are meant to represent us, yet they dictated this crisis. We were never asked.
