Optilock height for tikka m595 and delta titanium 56mm

Hi all. About to pick up a Delta Titanium 2.5-15x56 HD (30mm tube) scope to mount on my Tikka M595 in .308.

Previously had a 1" tube scope on it which was very close to the barrel (2-3mm) with my existing Optilocks and bases. I believe they are extra low (28.5mm from bottom of base to mid point of scope).

Wondering if anyone has fitted the above scope to a similar tikka with standard barrel using optilocks? Figure I need 30mm Lows or Mediums but having studied the charts I can't figure out which I need with any certainty.

Hope you can help thank you. P

If your existing 1” rings are Extra lows with the 3mm height from the top of the base to the bottom of the ring (Lows would be 5mm) then logically the 30mm tube will sit 2.5mm higher than the 1” tube being half the difference between the two tubes.

If the 1” scope wasn’t a 56mm objective then you’ll need to factor in half the difference in the objectives too, be wise to check that if it was front parallax anyway.

I have some ‘spares’ 🤣

Sorry, my.mistake. The 3mm was referring to the approximate clearance between barrel and scope. I figured keeping the same rings while upping to a 56mm objective would close that gap to nothing. So trying to figure if lows or meds will be best (need it as low as I can get away with). Thank you

I reckon they’re lows at 5mm ignoring the plastic internal ring spacer.

If your 1” tubed scope was a ‘56mm‘ objective and the same outer diameter as the Delta, then the fatter 30mm tube will hold the objective a further 2.5mm odd off the barrel. So, your 3mm + the 2.5mm from the fatter tube. image.webp

I think you're right mate...they seem like lows. Trouble is my 1" tube scope was 50mm obj. not 56mm which is doing my tired brain in too much to calculate. Need the OD of the Delta objective to reference against the chart.

I'd say medium too, having just worked out that was what I needed to fit a Zeiss 56mm on my M595.

All the information you need to work out what rings you need, once you've got the outside diameter of the objective housing, is in the table on the back of the packaging shown in post #3 above 👍

Thanks mate, is my gut feeling too. No one's yet come forward with the aoad though 🙂

If you can't calculate it with confidence (length of scope will impact where the objective is in relation to the barrel if it is tapered as it leaves the action) I'd just wait for the scope to arrive and then sit it on the bases and measure how far away it needs to be for the objective to clear the barrel. Bearing in mind where you settle the scope for the right eye relief.

I know we all want the scope mounted asap but sometimes the frustrating/sensible thing to do is to measure it.

Medium rings would be fine with optilock bases

Thank you to all the above. Going with mediums and will report back (a definitive answer might help others in future). Appreciate the comments 🙂
