I don't know where to start really but....

Very frustrating start SD but hopefully all will soon be sorted.
Different unit but when I first mounted the Pard 008P on my Remmy triple deuce it too lost zero - all those buttons drove me daft!
Turned out I had listened too much to some posts about wringing/snapping the supplied mounting bolts and had not put proper torque on them when initially setting it up. So a few moments of gentle tightening sorted it - that was over a year ago - still shoots better than I can.
Your fall-back add-on plan is not a bad way to go either - I use my 007 regularly on the .22, .17hmr and even on occasion the 6.5x55SE.
Good luck.

Yes sir. I've had a few things against me with this rifle. It's to be expected second hand I suppose but then again I've had my fair share of issues with new rifle's.
Now it's grouping I can eliminate the rifle.
Re the mounts and rail, they are solid.

Ive seen a lot of stuff online in the past with the Wraiths loosing zero, some are as good as gold but seems to be a thing if you get a bad one.
Send it back.
For dedicated you wont go wrong with an Alpex or C50 but they are a bit more wedge.

Ok, up at 5am, back to basics.
Check the muzzle.
Oh crap!
The muzzle under a magnifying glass was shot!
With a sinking feeling I remembered the many crowns I have salvaged and set to it.
The following photos should be viewed with caution with a sweet beverage but believe me this is after reclaiming, I refuse to show the the befores!!

Alas, that done, and the bolt off the stock I returned to the range.
Finally a group as big as my shake and worthy!View attachment 329961
The two shot in the tiny circles are yesterday prior to work.
The inch clust is four rounds today but note the zero change yet again! I no longer have faith in this NV unit! It didn't move like this on the rimfire but something isn't right so I'm going to scope this triple and go add on for night work.
For now I'm just glad I've got an acceptable group, at last....might be worth trying some more of those Winchester again even.
I'll be reloading soon too.
One day I'm gonna chuck the barrelled action and turn a new crown and the can can SOD OFF!
Sadly your crown is horrific, even after attention and it looks like it’s been cleaned with a Brillo pad ! I would suggest having the barrel chopped and re threaded assuming the rest of the barrel is in better shape. If the rest of the barrel is similarly affected its new barrel or new rifle time.

I realise you've sorted the issue , but the 527 resonds well to having a front pillar fitted and the recoil lug glass bedded.

Good it shoots ok, crown only cosmetic not pretty but shoots great so a win, win👍 same as when rifles are bore scoped some look scary but shoot great, with proper care that rifle will shoot a fox a day for many years I would be willing to bet🤷🏽‍♂️

Had it not grouped this morning an inch would of been turned off tomorrow and sod the can!
In fact that may just happen yet!
The rest of the bore is good.

Ay, I don't know of any rifle that does not improve with good bedding.
This one now groups so it can stay as is.

Good point , but if the stock fit is as poor as mine originally was it would explain the number of various articles on the subject in regards to the 527 .
I never really understood why CZ put a pillar of sorts under the tang but not the front of the action.

Well lads I've decided, the can is going and so is the threaded area of the barrel.
Bloody moderators, never liked them, let the freaking thing speak and to hell with it!

Pretty certain sd with mod on when been used in your hands and and removed after use would now not make any odds as is in good hands but guess for shooting fox’s will make little odds in real terms, glad it ended well with rifle 👍

I wondered about counter boring or counter sinking quite deep but I'm not sure of the legalities. Doing that may need reproofing.
I'm probably safer from a legal stance just removing the thread all together.
As it stands I can't live with that muzzle as it is.

Give it a chop and recrown if you are confident in doing yourself had a couple which ended up at 18” so handy when mod on and no other reason. Long as you do not sell to another no need for reproof if following letter of law but some will debate the point maybe and do not take it as red from me😂

Pal and I started out with a wardy 800 each he has more dosh to spend and has had and used most commercial stuff out there along the way with me been lucky to look through and play with and now has a c50 and thermion only and says that is it.
Myself jumped from a wardy 800 to used longbow and finally a ward thermal scope which is great and appreciate how good and groovy they all are. But we both agree we could have managed with just the wardy and dragonfly excepting we would have lost a few shots but not enough to matter.🤷🏽‍♂️

My wraith is one of the first and It has been impeccable, accounting for many foxes in the time I have had it. I had issues early on with me not spending proper money on a decent mount setup. Zero was erratic, and since buying proper mount for my Ruger I have had to alter it until recently when I set it for my new reloaded rounds. 4 shots and it was where it needed to be and accounted for 2 foxes that night. You may have a bad one and swapping it with the retailer may be an answer, as long as you have made absolutely certain its not the mounts or shooting style etc.

Everything was solid. Shooting style is consistent.
The strange thing is it always shifts zero to the left and lower. It did it once on the HMR also.
I appreciate your points though 👍🏻
