Marlin 1895G 45-70 guide gun

I have a Marlin 45-70 1895G ported guide gun that I’m thinking of selling but I don’t know what it’s worth. The Marlin 45-70 1895G ported was only made from 1998 until 2002, it’s in very good condition. Any help would be appreciated

I have looked on Guntrader but there isn’t any ported ones, I have been told they are sort after because they were only made for 4yrs.

I suspect substantially less than in the US.

Challenge in the UK is that there is not a huge level of demand for a 45-70. I am not sure a ported version would add or detract any real value. A lightweight ported gun probably useful as a guide gun - carried lots in bear country and only shot occasionally. Probably not the sort of gun for range use - a longer and heavier gun nicer to shoot perhaps.

Not legal in Scotland for deer - not enough velocity. Perfect for monster red deer in woodland down south or on boar.

Mmm, I suspect a 45-70 has plenty of space in the case you can load a reasonable level of bird shot to actually be useful for close range use. The rifling would open the pattern a bit but inside 25 yards?

I'd expect the porting to reduce the value due to the trend in the UK to try to make things quieter.

I'm prepared to be proven completely wrong though.
