Vernon Kay

I really do understand the "charity" issue. "Charities" are springing up left, right, and centre, specifically aimed at fury animals, people dying of thirst, going blind, or dodgy donkeys, amongst others ! I see these as business's poorly disguised as charities, targeting a particular type of person.

As I said, I won't give to anyone other than the charity direct, although I would give to CIN, who state that 95% of the money collected goes to the various charities. 5% admin' is incredibly efficient.
Fair enough , it being the BBC’s charity is reason enough for me not to donate , they have 90 million in the bank so I’d be interested to know how they got to the 95% figure ? The have raised 1 billion over the years so 90 mil is ten percent of that so how can 95% have gone to children ? I think maybe clever wording ?

Anyway , i won’t be associated with anything to do with the BBC so it’s all a moot point to me

you do you matey and please be assured that i in no way criticise you for what you do , we just feel different about the BBC thats all

You're assuming that none of the 90m will be going to children's charities ? Or, perhaps the trustee's of the charity are careful where the money goes too, and having a sum of money available to be used at short notice, would seem sensible to me ?

I don't think we actually think that differently about the BBC, I just don't think they have the free hand over the charities money, you think they do.

Irrespective of what is thought about the BBC and how much the celebs donate - Vernon Kay has made his own career off his own hard work, think he started out as a cleaner so has not had his fame handed to him on a plate - he has now used his popularity to assist lots of unfortunate kids in the U.K. can’t fault the man at all 👍👍.

Tess found fault when she discovered he was sending inappropriate text messages to females.
Ken.

She stayed with him though- lots go on behind closed doors that is not our business, only the fact some names sell papers for poor journalism is the reason it gets out occasionally.

So what ?
What’s that got to do with you ? Or anyone else ?
Or the fact he’s knocking his pan in to raise money to help children ?

And as for “ Wasted, on foreign children”

Some folk on here need a slap upside the heed for ignorance.

Absolutely correct.
The ignorance of some is outstanding.
The man is doing a great thing and yet gets knocked on here by the virtuous few.
I expect they would turn down a helping hand from children in need and let kids suffer so they could keep their head high.

I started this thread and myself and my wife donate to cancer research, guide Dogs for the blind and the dogs trust and the local county wildlife trust not because it makes us feel big but we actually believe that we are helping the charities.
For those that choose not to donate that is there choice just pray that you don't need one of them one day.
Sorry to be a party pooper but I donate to a charity every year just before 11th November every year 😉. I don't get much choice. A few years ago I approached the charity for potential assistance. Their rules were such that despite claiming to offer assistance in that field, in reality they would never ever pay out. This was pointed out to them by my chain of command and yet they refused to change their rules or even listen to the fact that their brochures were bordering on fraudulent. Sadly, as is usually the case, no one can afford to challenge them in court. The moral of the story is, don't assume that you will benefit, even if you have paid in millions. Life doesn't work like that. Give it you want to but please don't assume that you might one day benefit. PS, I now, begrudgingly give them £1 a year!

Well for all those moaning about the BBC... tune into BBC2 right now and watch one smoking hot chick in concert circa 1979... Blondie.... Debbie Harry 😍

Here’s a reason you should question where your donations might go.

Yep, makes you ashamed at times. I'm alright Jack.

And yet there are still plenty on here who will help out without even asking. Those in here know who they are. Thank you.

Plenty of good folk about chap.
They just don’t crow about it on the internet of how virtuous they are.
The story of the widows mite springs to mind.

I can understand the debt counselling as i work with a charity that regularly is asked by families for money towards the cost of living yet they have a 62" flat screen and all the packages sky offers and they get quite incredulous when you suggest they scale it back a bit!. on a side note the the charity regularly asks children in need and the lottery for money but is denied because we take children fishing among other things which boil down to not being "woke" enough!
