Best head torch

Looking for a new head torch. Ideally needs to be bright enough to use when driving the quad at night when retrieving shot beasts, and dim enough to use when gralloching.
Currently use a clulight, which is very good but doesn't last long. Also the more compact the better.

Ebay £10 special, including 2 x 18650 batteries, had it for 8 years and it's still working perfectly. they have gone up a couple of quid but are still a decent headtorch with a few modes.

Petzl and Led lenser excellent. I also bought a Forclaz 400 from Decathlon in Spain and it’s really good with a few settings

Picked up a Fenix at IWA last year you are not allowed to buy stuff there as its a trade fair, but!!!! 60 euros and is really good my pal the vet told me of them as he uses his for his animal operations for detail work as well as for hunting..

Another vote for Led Lenser, love mine but saw one the other day that had a proximity sensor and changed the power depending on what was in front of it, ie reading a document and then looking at something 500m away

I’ve got one of these LED lensers and honestly the settings gimmicks are exactly that, gimmicks. It takes ages to decide what it wants to output so I have set it up just to be on mid power all the time because it’s a pain otherwise. If you are in a light bit and want to see outside it you can’t because it dims the light. Pain in the arse.

Ideal world I would like one with two switches. 100 lumens for close and something bright like 800 lumens for everything else - press the one you want. No scrolling through setting and keep it simple.
