I don't see it as particularly a "political" issue as such, in that if it was a Labour government in power making these decisions he would have challenged that too. It is the sitting government that is being challenged, irrespective of its leanings.

One more time; No one who works for an (allegedly) impartial state broadcaster should. And yes, works in this context means employed, self-employed, sub contracted, whatever.

My problem is with the *BBC*, not Packham. Either he walks from his contract and takes HMG to court, or he refrains from political campaigning whilst pursuing a career in 'public service broadcasting'. It's really that simple.

That puts you firmly in the minority , so in the arena of public opinion, yours is wrong.

I am sure you act deliberately dim. When complaints have been made to the BBC about CP's political Bias they say he is a 'contractor' - I am interested to hear whether a contractor can go too far with his political comment and remain an employee of the BBC - satisfy you ?

So, CP is trying to raise money again to pay his scumbag solicitors ( Leigh Day, look them up) to represent his views again.
A few days ago he was criticising Ant and D*ck about cruelty to insects, or such like,...I dont really know as i dont watch them!
The point is i noticed there was quite a lot of negative commets about CP from the public on FB (and not just from the shooting community)
I have said before that he is getting more extreme in pushing his views and the public will grow tired of his grandstanding.

That is something of a supposition. However, it is a fact that he didn't ever challenge a non-Tory government in court over such policies and the last Labour government didn't even have any commitment to net zero at all.
The recent set of Tory governments have been the greenest government's we've ever had. Packham has legally challenged them on a range of matters while being content not to with Labour in charge. The outcome of his behaviour is indisputably political whatever motive you project onto him.

He presents wildlife programmes. He is not an presenter of Newsnight or the Today programme. His remit is not to hold the government to account. His remit is to explain the mating habits of crested newts in an educational manner, preferably with as little anthropomorphising as possible.

I have 'endured' much harsher sentiments from other members who have never been sanctioned in any way.
Yes, I do take it personally.

All in all, maybe its time for a period of withdrawal from posting. Clearly I will not be missed. So to others who have helped me - thank you and goodbye, good stalking.

i think people hate him because he is better at playing the game than most.
only reason the general license fiasco happen was because we didnt use the old one correctly.
we should all be calling out lying politicians.

Matters not , how long anyone has been a member of this site. The rules have always been the same, and all we ask is that everyone is respectful. Not too much to ask for really?
