7mm rem mag to 6.5 prc

£80/20 probably not much more than reloading with component prices.

That's barmy that pricing

My 6.5prc on a short action mausingfield, proof barrel, PSE stock. Weight in photo 11lb with mag full.
5 shot barnes 127 lrx under 1/4moa.
Tikka action with a magnum bolt fact would work well. PSE stocks are great and you would be supporting a local company.
I get around 250fps more than I did with my creedmoor, switched as extra velocity with copper.

No deer will tell the difference. The .270 is a magnificent calibre which has stood the test of time. Buy what you can easily feed!
(Wish I’d followed my own advice … my 7mm08 and 7mm RSAUM aren’t exactly mainstream!)

You could go for the 7mm prc
That is going to be a minority sport over here. Interesting to see how it gets on. US forums seem undecided. There are guys who want a 7 Saum type so have gone 7-6.5PRC and others who don't see the point in not having a full-length magnum round want 7-300PRC. Not universal love.

270 is a good round at the best of times. Simpler, cheaper and available now. No magnum bolt heads...

I should have listened to the little voice in my head saying get rid of it buy yourself a light rifle instead when it came time to rebarell my TRG too Don't think I could ever do it tho I like it too much.

In Britain the FTR community are showing interest in the 7-6.5prc, if that ever comes off then ammo will be more readily available. Both the 7prc and the 7-300prc are big steps up in terms of recoil and powder usage.
All the chamberings mentioned are more than adequate for anything in the UK, much down to personal choice.

Huge difference, it's the bullets that come out the barrel.

What's stamped on the brass case has no effect on the animal/target.
.277 vs .284
Weights can be similar with a new fast twist on the .270.
Even with standard twist weights up to 156gr are no problem.
Given similar weights there’s not a gnats eyelash worth of difference out to 500M or so.

What colour stock is that it's tremendous

The PRC in 6.5 mm has its place

But whilst it’s accurate and does the job, 7mm Rem mag if you buy it may be the one to stick with

If you wanted almost Rem Mag performance without magnum bolt face then 284 Winchester or an improved variant may be worth considering if the action will feed it (the improved version that is )
