Landowners and stalkers can be so wildly disconnected so, yes, I suspect many would find a list useful. Picture this; landowner has a deer problem, asks agent, forester, insurer, lawyer, etc, if they know any stalkers. Probably not, so they Google “deer stalking” and probably, at the same time, Google “deer stalking qualifications” because, of course, they can only suggest to said landowner someone who’s competent or they will be in the s**t. So, having consulted Google, they now know DSC2 is the thing to ask their would be stalker for, box ticked. Then they ask Google “list of deer stalkers with DSC2” and sure enough, as of right now, this thread appears second in the search list. Connection made! Agent, etc, calls BASC, connection to stalker made through a reputable organisation, agent, etc, recommends stalker, landowner is happy, agent has done job in half an hour of Googling, agent is happy, everyone wins. Except Joe from down the road, of course, who’s shot 10,000 deer in the past 100 days but doesn’t ‘need’ any qualifications to prove it. He just carries on with his life. So who’s naive? The stalker who’s got some new permission through being on the list, or Joe?
