Where to look for a Parker Hale?

I would like to buy a Parker Hale in .270 Winchester. Ideally I'd like to go to a shop or two so I can handle several and see which stock I like best. Does anyone know of a shop which would have several I could go and look at? I'm near Swindon but I don't mind driving an hour or two and I visit family in Essex so anywhere over that way would be fine as well.

Any suggestions?

Cheers

What an excellent choice of rifle and calibre!
I hope you find one.
You will enjoy it when you do.

(If you're really lucky, and find one that's not already been screwcut, so much the better!)

Just about every RFD in the country will have a couple of old Parker Hale rifles covered in dust and at the far end of their racks in their armoury.
Don't appear too eager when they blow the dust off as there are some real bargains to be had if you choose wisely. (There's also some right old tat.)

Up the M6 to Wigan. McAvoy's. Or there is an gun auction at Stroud Auctions three times a year.

If only we could print pictures from a memory I’d sent you one of a London gun shop window in 1973 that had a serried bank of Parker Hale rifles to make you weep. Must have been at least 30 of them with all their manufacturer labels, shop written Manilla price tags and chambering info dangling from the trigger guards.

Happy and simpler times.

Donaldsons guns in Milton Keynes and
Lamberts of Ringwood both have the 1200 deluxe on Guntrader. There will be other calibres as well. As others have said have a phone round as many places may not even advertise they have one.

hmm .308w

I would have a look up st Francis Lovell in Witney or just google Parker Hale 270 and plenty come up

We must have sent 10-15 to France relatively recently!!
We still get them in in various states of “modernisation”

Usually the pressure bedding point has been removed to “free float” despite it being a terminal act on accuracy

Chopped off fore-sight and threaded….
Pitted bores
Battered wood
Etc etc
Every now and then a clean one arrives.

As it happens I have one for sale that is my own.
A John Dickson Parker Hale built on a Military action
Complete with front snd rear sight (unthreaded)
Reblued metalwork, smaller items Nitre Blued
Stock refinished and new Pachmayer vented pad fitted.

Shoots extremely well with 130gr Hornady Interlocks over N160

I did a write up here:

I will get some current pictures up

It has been in my cupboard for too long
Highly unlikely it will come out if I am being honest with myself

You won’t find a better example

Sounds like I should speak to Francis Lovell and I will be popping in to Donaldson's on my way to visit the family soon as they have another gun I am interested in anyway.

That’s a very fine looking rifle!

That's a lovely job you've done there Ed. You should get that rifle out in the field and use it. Did you ever work out where the two little screws came from?

It's a very nice rifle but not what I am looking for.

A number of PH .270s on Guntrader - scattered about the countryside from £200 upwards. May be worth a look?
