Sounds like he had a firing pin hang up which released when the bolt was opened. The shooter was not using the correct procedure for a hangfire so hurt his hand. User error certainly. Bolt needed a clean possibly?

I thought it sounded like a hang fire that he opened before waiting the 30 seconds. same as any rifle.
 
Put bullets in, load chamber with bullet, point in the right direction, pull trigger, Bang do your bit and it will be on target.
 
I have 2.

I like the straight pull, I like the trigger. I like that mine seems to shoot all ammo I feed it with accurately. I like the safety of the decocker mechanism.
I don't like the top loading, but I can live with that. I dont like the force needed to put the decocker to live.

Don't see any reason to sell until the barrels wear out.

Even then, several gunsmiths can rebarrel using your original barrel stub I believe.

Yes, that is correct. Personally, however, I would be tempted to use the Austrian company which is currently licensed by Blaser to manufacture its R8 barrels, although going down that route for an R93 replacement barrel would likely be the most expensive option.
