Vacancy: Trainee Stalkers Required

Kildermorie is a traditional Highland deer forest comprised of over 19,000 acres of mixed upland habitats. Management is habitat focused in order to deliver first class deer stalking in both open range and woodland settings for red and sika deer, salmon and trout fishing and grouse shooting over pointers.

The successful applicants will be trained in all aspects of upland deer management, gamekeeping and estate maintenance. Each will work as part of a small, close-knit team reporting to the Head Stalker, working alongside the Under Keeper and another Trainee Stalker in a remote but welcoming estate community.

Time will be taken away from Kildermorie to work alongside colleagues in different parts of the industry to ensure that a broad spectrum of skills and experience are gained.

Duties / experience will include;
  • Open hill and woodland deer management
  • Traditional stalking with guests
  • Working and care of stalking ponies
  • River and loch fishing for salmon and trout with guests
  • Clay pigeon shooting with guests
  • Habitat improvement and vermin control
  • Improving grouse stocks for shooting over pointers.
  • Estate maintenance
  • Use and maintenance of ATVs, plant and machinery

Candidates will be expected to work to a high standard in all weathers and sometimes for long hours.

An excellent remuneration package including additional certificated training, wet weather clothing / PPE and shared accommodation is provided.

A beautiful Highland Estate,l worked pointers to falcons on the patch next door for someone in the last century.
We spent a day on the Moor there,the Garron got stuck in a mire, l ran off the hill for help.
It was lifted by helicopter and made the papers.
We had a fair drink afterwards.

Wish I’d seen this a few months back what a opportunity..I’m 58 been a roofing contractor all my life would love a career change in professional deer management…
 
j m.you would be 40 years too late .its a job for young fit men ,not for me or you .but you can always dream.
