1980s British Army Pack (how is this worn)

I have had this bag since the 90s, my late uncle gave it to me along with lots of his other service clothing and equipment.

His son had it for a while and taped it up to take the slack out of the cover, hence the white and the graffiti.

But, I've always wondered how this was worn, the bag is small and fine as a satchel, the straps on the back make it sit very high on your back so it isn't particularly comfortable.

Was this meant to attach to webbing or another bergen?

This may be a faux pas, but I will be strapping it to my French F2 bag for my trip to Vietnam.

Looks at google images and youtube, it looks similar to a 58 but not exactly the same.

I shall keep looking for what it is, thanks.

Here you go....
You can see the D rings in this pic.
There should also be a strap on the bottom of the pack with a clip that attaches to rings on the ammo pouches. Stops the pack going over head when you hit the ground.

Not very popular and no where as comfy as '58 but nice.

With the extra long straps and all the webbing loops it fits nicely on top of this bag.

Boths bags are tough, so good for travelling.

That 44 bag has been my uncles, my cousins 80s school bag (the inside has Madness graffiti), my knocking about bag since the early 90s, my shooting bag as a satchel since the mid/late 90s (good for putting rabbits in).

Looks like the 58 pattern waist pouches and the same for the poncho holder .The pack as you say 44 pattern subtle differences to the 58 atb

Only when properly connected to the yoke, otherwise the straps are just wrong for wearing as a back pack.
Seen plenty converted to motorcycle panniers though.
