Small folding knife

Could anyone recommend a small (ideally very small) folding knife that would sit in a pocket on a chest pack?

Not an opinel! I really do like them.

How small is small?

Carry either a EKA No9 or Byrd Cara Cara 2 in the side pocket of my bino harness.

They also do a 15g one.

I got my brother in law one of these for Xmas. He is a farmer and doesn't want locking knives as he is opening and closing it many times a day for basic cutting tasks.

This knife is good because it is cheap, you do not need use of thumbnail nick to open it because there is plenty of metal hanging out of the opening to grab to open and the slipjoint mechanism is nice and strong to keep it either open or shut. The blade is also carbon steel which I like as cheap knives tend to have crappy steel unless they are carbon steel. Which obviously can rust but as long as you are not getting it soaking wet and leaving it in a bag, it will be fine. It is also easy to clean up with wet n dry paper and they take and hold a decent edge with ease.

The handle wood is also nice and defies the price. He is a picky bugger but he really likes it. I keep meaning to get another one for myself. It is quite small in the hand but handy.

I'm using:
when minimum is required
Boker plus Atlas : Boker Plus - Atlas Backlock Droppoint
or a Victorinox Bantam : Bantam Victorinox Swiss Army Knife
As a spare, Boker offers a blade with a slick overall shape. I got it as my Bantam victorinox developed some corrosion in the handle after using it out on the foreshore. It has aluminum liners and corrodes with salty water. So far, I gralloched few deers with my lithe Bantam and works well especially when the blades is razor sharp.

Going bigger, but not minimal, I use:
Victorinox santinel https://www.amazon.co.uk/Victorinox-0-8413-3-Sentinel-Pocket-Knife/dp/B001E45J8E
or Eka 8, locking blade, etc but already bulky with the sheath Swede 8 ORANGE HANDLE LEATHER SHEATH
Both nice. I prefer Santinel when in carrying it in the pocket. But, I am using Eka often as a light stalking knife.

If just a spare, probably Bantam is the most appropriate.
Small, plastic handle that will not scratch other items in the bag, a bottle opener just in case, some minimal tooling when out, Uk legal if you keep the bag in the car.
There is a similar model with a cork screw on it. Also one that has a saw:
Knife chat: 84mm Victorinox Waiter and derivatives- the Bantam and Walker

Mild steel is Carbon steel.
You need to know the carbon content if buying a knife with a carbon steel blade.

Gralloching when I forget my main knife! If it’s in the chest pack, I can’t forget it…
Have a look at the Ontario RAT 2 in AUS-8 stainless. Flat ground 3" blade, liner lock and one handed opening, you can configure the pocket clip to be left or right, tip up or down.
