Hi
I'm looking for a favour. I'm at Bisley on Friday and Saturday and am looking to practice with my .22 prior to an NRA competition on Sunday 24th. Does anyone have a lane booked on Short Siberia or Century (300 yards) and be happy for me to join them? I have a SCC and various club memberships, but I'm not an NRA member as I only come to Bisley twice a year.
Thanks in anticipation.

good morning,i was at bisley yesterday morning with my club and a friend <he is an nra member >booked the afternoon and we ask if i could join him. the out come was a big NO as i would not be covered by the nra insurance and as a non member i could not shoot unless the range was booked by a club.the advice was to join the nra as a full member as a club membership is only valid when the range is booked by the club. the range officers did check ssc cards yesterday during the morning which i have not had before so perhaps things have changed recently.

The SCC cards arent necessary if a one to one coach is available, thats easy, insurance isnt invalidated by not being a member as most shooting insurance includes ranges for testing and zeroing!
It does smack a little of the underpaid green blazer zealots trying to screw more membership dues.

Wasn't it but ever thus. The only interest the NRA had in pistol shooting was the camp entrance fee they used to screw out of people coming to the NPA Anno Domini meeting. Do they still try this on with a lad stopping incoming traffic in the "sentry box" at the Trafalgar Meeting?

I havent seen a bloke on duty there for years, used to tell them I was collecting from the shops for deliveries so they would let me through. It seemed they had one every weekend years ago

You can only shoot at bisley with your affiliated club or by becoming a nra member
Broadly true but don't forget that BASC is an affiliated club, and also I believe, well there used to be an arrangement at least, whereby you could book for zeroing certain days mid week, provided you met certain criteria.

Thanks, I am a BASC member and will look into that.
Best regards
