I just looked at this members online bit of the website and it shows a bunch of people called stuff like “generic bot robot” and “bingbot robot”
Can anyone please explain what the F is going on here? Are robots really reading about deer stalking?? What is this madness?
What do these robots look like and where do they live?
I feel like I’m living in the future now 🤯

They look like their owners, nefarious ****s that lurk behind screens with the sole aim eventually of getting enough information so as to take a dip into your wallet...one way or another.
It doesnt matter if they are simply collecting 'data' its is still used as a means to further their own.

Why on earth would anyone be interested in me shitting in a tea cup and feeding it to my Bro that is tied on a rack made of second hand ladies stockings and knotted camel hair from the opp shop?
 
The minute you use Mr Google or his friends you will be targeted for information harvesting.
This can sold to others ,used to send adverts to you related to your search history. Or worse .
I'm afraid Pandora long ago opened her box of electrikery and you can accept its there or make a nice tinfoil hat.
Enjoy the Internet, use it but make sure you're upto date with security/ firewalls and anything else you need.

What? These robots are coming to my house now? I am sure the security is up to date; the locks are pretty good on doors and stuff, we also have a dog and there’s always someone here at the property…..what is a firewall? Do I need this to stop robots getting in? Is it a bit like a Molotov cocktail?

They index the site for Google/Bing etc.

Obviously there are those which are are less welcome as well, but you can't have everything! ;)

What if some of my friends are actually robots in disguise? How would I know?

I have 'banished' a few... Chinese search engines, for example, are quite brutal on the bandwidth they gobble! Others are essential to users seeing a post via search, for example.

Generally they have text/host that makes them fairly obvious, so no, your friends will not be in disguise. ;)
