Condor thoughts?

That's the point i am trying to make all singing very good thermal spoilt by complete disregard to how your going to carry it and protect the lens which is extremely costly. Pulsar lense cover is just perfect. Closes easily robust simple but effective. Hik please take note.

Especially given what it would cost to do it right first time , probably less than £20 to put a lanyard hoop plus proper hinged lenses cap, add it to the price and no one even notices

Exactly. I do wonder who they get to field test their prototypes. Perhaps they don't bother! Whatever they need to find some testers who know what they are doing and rigorously test in the field.

I have the CQ50 and I am also having the same sort of niggles. Definitely going to try mounting the lanyard like above.
As for the lens cap, well that is absolutely crap! Mine point blank refuses to stay on if any movement is involved!
Let us know how you get on please. I'm very curious.

Is this still an issue folks?

I have bought a CQ35 today. Think i got about 2 hours or so with an ampsplus 3500. This did include installing the latest update.

I had 2 bars showing left when using the rangefinder shut the unit off. I noticed when i pressed the power button there was a clicking noise but no power on. The second press brought it on.

The rangefinder then made the screen go off and on, functioned a few times then knocked the unit off.
Only once did i get a warning message saying theres insufficient power for the rangefinder.

The unit itself still carried on on 1 bar.

Is this normal? I’d expect a message saying the rangefinder is not usable rather than the unit going off.

Not usual, I always get insufficient power message when it’s below 2 bars.

Well i put the supplied hik battery in.
2.5 hrs and counting which is where i gave up.

Good news, it didn’t switch off this time when i tried the rangefinder but gave me the not enough power message at 1 bar which is what i would expect.

Not sure what the score is. Is it the 3rd party batteries??

The gumph does say hik ones are 3.6v and my ampsplus are 3.7v.

Are your Ampsplus batteries flat top or button top?

Button top, as are the Hik ones.
Could the small voltage difference be causing issues i wonder?

Another thing with the rangefinder, its not entirely accurate. At 42 yards with 2 other devices this one reads 53. Less of a discrepancy at longer distances.

Shouldn’t be the batteries then.

I tried a third battery, another ampsplus 3500, brand new like the first one.

Wifi constantly on (i will be screen sharing) with intermittent range finding and change of colour scheme.

Device lasted almost 4 hours.

Rangefinder went out of use just after 2.5 hours.

wifi shut itself off at 3:15.

Usable for colour change and zoom right till the end.

NO unexpected shutdowns this time so i dont know what happened in the first use. I had the rangefinder unavailable message as should happen.

I can live with that.

Shame you lose the rangefinder at just over halfway through power usage though and the rangefinder is not 100% accurate, especially at close range which might affect air rifle or .22lr users.

Back out foxing with the cq50 last night.. I got 2 hours out of 1 battery that's no WiFi and not using the range finder... also another thing that happened was that the screen was going of for a split second any ideas ?

I had the same problem re the battery. I have liased with hik considerably on this. It is still with them at this minute. It looks like that the recent firmware is the issue the unit itself is fine. They are currently working on a new firmware update which should be released shortly. In regards to performance its a great image and the features perform well. However once the battery gets to one bar you lose the lrf and the zoom. Average battery life was around 45 minutes for me. However when you remove the dead battery and place it in you're charger it is still well over 60 percent charged.

Is the new firmware added to models before they go out or do you need to add it yourself?
