Fox baiting station - Ethical? Legal or wot?

Many years ago an open-topped lorry toured the farms collecting fallen beasts for rendering and glue plants - the smell of it passing by was unforgettable!
However from what I read it is now illegal to dump or bury livestock - rather they must be disposed of in a prescribed manner - whether that includes gamebirds I honestly know not. My primary concern in these hostile-to-shooting days is the own goal that videos such as this hands to those who wish our sport harm.

You're correct, livestock must be collected by an approved method, this however does not extend to wild animals. I think the moral to this, as with most things, just because you can, doesn't mean you should

I have posted a comment to the guy who put this video up suggesting that it was not his best idea ever.
Should anyone else wish to do the same simply search “fox bait station” on Youtube and it is about the third one down, open it and comments can then be added.

But you spread the word further by posting pictures of it on here too? If it was wrong for him to put it on YouTube, how was is right for you to post it on here?

Foxes might visit a bait station like that, but they pick up something and run, usually. I scatter meaty dog food about so they hang around, eating one bit at a time.

Oh well, always one - did you really think that I did not think that one through?
As you will see from my later posts I have set out my reasons for so doing and later still sent him direct messages asking him to reconsider and why. I also invited similar-minded SD members to contact the chap directly - would it be fair to assume you have not?
Just curious….

They will sit on that pile all night to be honest JTO - i have seen them on muck heaps for hours on end - or a fallen animal before the farmer has had chance to move it

I have read the whole thread.
Just like YouTube, this is open for the general public to view. I'm just curious as I fail to see the difference. Please explain. I get that it's a bad look and all that. I certainly wouldn't be chucking all that stuff on there. It's the posting pictures that I don't get.
"Utterly dumb for posting on Youtube." Your words, not mine!

Oddly enough I did not go looking for it - it randomly appeared in the Youtube “Shorts” function which Lady FB was viewing; this means that anyone may see it unsolicited and without looking for anything on that subject (largely the reason I started the thread); unlike SD of course where some more discerning viewers would have to intentionally open the site and trip over my humble post and his utterly dumb video.

But what you and many others appear to forget is that anyone can and does trawl sites such as this, looking for evidence to use against the Field Sports Communities. Some of the posts across this sitefall well below the line that many ordinary people would find acceptable. Even you are saying that the pile is unacceptable!

I can assure you that “forgetting” did not apply in my case - rather it was a balanced judgement which would hopefully lead to the video being removed. Interestingly the comments facility has apparently since been turned off so :scared:.
Anyhoo, I think Eleanor Roosevelt got it about right…
“Do what you feel in your heart to be right - for you'll be criticized anyway. You'll be damned if you do, and damned if you don't.”
For the record - protecting our heavily threatened sport lies very dear to my own heart.
Now do run along and find something else to criticise.
Amen.

Many years ago on a local farm, the farmer had what he called a dead hole, and it was just that, a large open hole in a field.
Yes and it works especially well in the larger areas here. No walkers, no gawkers and there's nothing left to see in 12 months. Two separate sites both at least one k from the house, I have trapped and shot dogs under 200 yards from the house.

Angus beef, mmm.

Nice and ripe Angus brings them in.

Brilliant concept in terms of attracting and shooting foxs and a good set up a fine midding which looking at area around gets a digger bucket on it from time to time like the old dead hole concept ( waste from larder maggoted pheasants etc.) with fence round it and danger sign. Plenty land fill sites not dissimilar and hoaching with visiting foxs and rats .
Does not look the part in the new world order of things to some folks and certainly could be reworked to achieve similar results.
Ran plenty of middings ( some deer fenced by contractors ) for snaring but with contents lightly buried or suspended in double bin bags which had been maturing and lightly punctured.🤷🏽‍♂️
In summary great set up really like for attracting vermin and possible bother.😀

I remember the disgust and hatred exhibited in one rag back in the 80`s where some fool had discovered the "bodies of skinned greyhounds" . Of course they were skinned foxes that had been dumped in a spot where the fool had stumbled upon them. There was so much conjecture as to why greyhounds were being skinned ffs.
