DSC1 Certificate Process Time?

How long generally are you typically waiting for your DSC1 Certificate to be issued to you from taking the tests etc on the last day of the course?
My Lantra Level 2 Award in Wild Game Meat Hygiene was issued within 3 weeks. I am still waiting for my DSC1 certificate and it is now close to 6 weeks since completing the tests.

DMQ States,
Under normal circumstances, a DSC1 certificate should be with the candidate (you) within a maximum of 8 weeks after successfully completing all 5 assessments.

My FEO wants me to send my DSC1 Certificate before they process my variation.

I was around 6 weeks from assessment to finding out I had passed/delivery of cert. Scotland based. Worth checking with the folks you did the assessment with that you were successful and when the paper work was submitted?

Thanks, I have had confirmation that it took circa 4 weeks for the assment center to get the documents to the IV. The IV has 4 weeks to turn this around and then if goes to DMQ to be awarded. Mandy at DMQ has been really helpful and confirmed as soon as she has everything at her end that she will process as quickly as possible as she understands why I need the certificate so quickly to deal with my variation for my FEO. I just had not anticipated that it would take so much time to process.

Hopefully gets sorted soon, good that DMQ are supporting. I think FEO's want an easy variation/application for larger calibre, which the DSC1 along with your permission does (that was my feedback during interview in last few weeks, just waiting for the application to be processed now).

People really should be pushing back against police forces insisting on DSC1. It is not a requirement of licensing, and never has been. They're just making up their own rules.
I fully understand that having or not having a DSC1 certificate should not influence the decision making for an FEO on a variation for a deer calibre rifle.

However, the land I intend to stalk on requires DSC1, so I didn’t feel the need to push back un-necessarily and potentially cause a conflict between me and the FEO.

The way I see it, by playing ball with the FEO might mean that they don’t apply awkward restrictions on my variation.

Much agree - in my interview the FEO was stating that with the DCS1 their decision is a lot easier - not that it was a requirement or mandated.

That's nonsense, you need to demonstrate good reason not training. You still need to prove that you have access to stalking/shooting either by permission or having booked outings.
As others have already suggested they are making it up as they go along.

I sense we have gone a little off topic!! I just wanted to know how long typically everyone was patiently waiting for their DSC1 certificates to be issued to them!!

Push back how exactly?

Making up their own rules?

They absolutely can do that - check your FAC.

Conditions 1-4 (b) are standard.

The Chief Constable can then add whatever additional conditions they deem fit.
