Venison wanted advert from 50 years ago.

Best me to it !
I was away to post it !.

Now….. 50p/lb 1973/74 prices …..
What’s that equate to in todays pennies ???🫣🤓🤨

It says minimum price, not maximum, and urgently wanted, so I guess there was scope for negotiation there.
Think instead of the negotiation that price would possibly rise through the season so the 50p/lb was guaranteed as the minimum but not saying some could be paid more with a wee bit favouritism.
My dealer usually states the price as lowest at the start of the bucks and will go up later and it pretty much always does.

Back in the 50's I was lucky if I could get 30/- for a roe no matter what size.
I made more money selling pigeons at 6d each and the occasional badger for £1
full size rabbits, oven ready 1/6d.

What was the badger used for?

£15/kg

That’s jaw dropping.

You would be getting over £200 for a roe deer.

What the hell happened??

Air fare and shipping costs have dramatically reduced so a cheaper more regular supply from abroad is readily available.

Obviously there is less call for wild game meats that can be attributed to the rise of the green vegetarians and ilk.
Omg they wont ever eat plastic wrapped chops let alone a dirty wild animal.

When I`m eating roasted goat on the island after the boat goes down that mob can watch the grease run down my chin and it wouldn't be long before they fight for the gristle I spit out......fugg em!

All the vegetarians and vegans I've ever spoken to are way more supportive of hunting for meat compared to the processed fast food meat eaters. That majority of the population are the ones who are too squeamish en masse to consider eating a wild animal. Most vegans and vegetarians are way more connected to their food, where it comes from, keen to source local food with lower air miles etc.

Of course there are some hardcore Egan's and vegetarians who are anti hu ting or any form of using an animal but they are definitely in the minority in my experience.
