Well…went to farm a week last Friday and Charlie sussed out I was in the hedge as soon as line of sight was established, he quickly buggered off and so did I soon after. It wasn’t the first time in the past weeks I’ve been rumbled while waiting between the sandwiches my baiter puts down and the direction foxes appear from.
This afternoon I went and erected some cammo netting and left my collapsible seat ready for tonight.
Got there just after 8 and settled in in time to be unseen when the sandwich man came.
Heard him mumbling to himself on the other side of hedge about 20.45.
21.05 I scan and Charlie is just coming over the rise. It was like he’d seen me as I clocked him and he turned and left.
15 mins later Charlie comes out from behind some sapling Silver Birch, he looks at 2 broken eggs and some dog biscuits I’d put nearby and only 30 yds away.
Take Zulus off standby, put rifle on mono stick and pull the safety back just as Charlie turned and walked away, but he stopped after a couple of yards and looked back towards the eggs…BANG. 40 grain Sierra BT.
Then realised I’d done a Foxy and not pressed the front button!
