Out last night.

Went off stalking a couple of years back, drove forty minutes, got out of the truck loaded the 308 mag , grabbed the bolt , b###x !!!!!!!! 223 bolt 🤪😡

Been out earlier, had a fox appear about 100yards the other side of a hedge. The icotec was on rabbit in distress, but it just wasn't interested. It stayed the other side of the hedge and moved away. I turned the caller off and got my brass disk squeaker out, within seconds, it's spun around and charging back to 80yards and on my side of the hedge. Night night

Well…went to farm a week last Friday and Charlie sussed out I was in the hedge as soon as line of sight was established, he quickly buggered off and so did I soon after. It wasn’t the first time in the past weeks I’ve been rumbled while waiting between the sandwiches my baiter puts down and the direction foxes appear from.
This afternoon I went and erected some cammo netting and left my collapsible seat ready for tonight.
Got there just after 8 and settled in in time to be unseen when the sandwich man came.
Heard him mumbling to himself on the other side of hedge about 20.45.
21.05 I scan and Charlie is just coming over the rise. It was like he’d seen me as I clocked him and he turned and left.
15 mins later Charlie comes out from behind some sapling Silver Birch, he looks at 2 broken eggs and some dog biscuits I’d put nearby and only 30 yds away.
Take Zulus off standby, put rifle on mono stick and pull the safety back just as Charlie turned and walked away, but he stopped after a couple of yards and looked back towards the eggs…BANG. 40 grain Sierra BT.
Then realised I’d done a Foxy and not pressed the front button!
Ken.

Custard creams, digestive hybrid sarnies.....what ever will they think of next?
Best take a flask next time ken....!

I hadn’t been out for a while. 6 chickens were killed and 3 lambs dead in the fields. One stripped to the backbone and another with two puncture wounds in its neck. So checking the bait pipes this week showed a bit of activity.
8 pm at one and 9 pm at another.
The 8 o’clock fox turned up on time but all I have to show is a tiny piece of bone ! Maybe I’ll find it tomorrow but doubtful.
Off to the next pipe for my appointment. Sure enough I spotted a fox in the next field. It had a go at the hares to no avail. It just made me more aware of how well animals can see in the dark. The hares were off like rockets and Charlie gave up for easier pickings. He meandered his way across the field, through a gap and lights out at about 90 yds.
45 minutes later I clocked another making its way along the side of a wood. A quick “Oi” stopped her for a shot. So a dog and barren vixen for the night .
The dogs of war had their sport.

The question on everyone’s lips is what type of sandwiches are they that prove irresistible to Charlie?

I must be a silent member of that illustrious club, lots (and I mean lots) of footage of badgers, hares, deer & all manner of other animals, but alas no footage of foxes. 🤷‍♂️

Two for me, a barren vixen, paired up - the second got away. And the second, stepped out the farm house after a tea only to see a fox @ 100 yards ish going right to left across the back field. Loaded rifle, onto sticks and it was at 200-220ish and about to head under the fence. A modest squeak and it stood proud for a quick look at 40gr of vmax hurtling towards it. Both foxes off the lambing fields.
2024 > 24 so far.
