Suggestions please for a euro destination, Mrs RJD has not flown since before Covid and was not especially a fan before this, we have a couple of 10 hr flights over the summer and so trying to find a destination as a warm up.

Ideally somewhere not to crowded and with no orange people or people photographing food in restaurants (presumably for instagram) X god I hate these ****tards…

My granddaughter was a few weeks ago in Porto as she was studying in Bilbao, she said Porto was very dirty with litter etc.
i went a few years ago didnt notice much litter. food was good, lots of local beers, wines, portugese brandy and of course port.
couple of big indoor markets, we took a tour of the duro valley.
i dont think ive seen anywhere as bad for litter as the uk

Krakow in Poland is a good one to try, not expensive and a nice town/city to wander about in as well as a bit of history.
Friend went to Budapest and they said it was great, Naples - good food and a decent place to wander about in.
Paris - despite what everyone says, is good, expensive and a bit dirty in places, but some good places to eat and drink.

Malta was good, some very impressive architecture, culture and food is a mix of italian, greek, arabic and british, pretty cheap before main season starts. Good for a long weekend. If not San Sebastian in the Basque country perhaps??

Old europe that hasn't been overrun by the asylum seekers is probably the best option, admittedly the old looking parts of eastern europe are relatively new rebuilds

Agree about the UK.

Seville & Budapest are nice for short breaks.

We went to Dortmund a few years ago for Jagd und Hund and the state of the town centre was appalling. I served in Munster in the 80's and it was industrial but spotless. The beggars and litter were awful. I was shocked to see German kids littering.

I was diverted to drive through the town this year after the show due to the farmers protest revolting blocking the autobahn around about 5pm and it was so full of non German looking folk wandering about I thought I had been beamed into the near east. Duisberg BTW was always regarded as the worst town.
That's me done, now I will be on the Scottish hate list arrest warrant.

I was in Kreuzberg, Berlin, last year. What a sh*t hole. Litter and scrap dumped everywhere.

I really didnt like the place, won't be returning.
I missed out on a posting there in the late 80's. Miffed at the time but I really wanted Cyprus or Gib for the sunshine. I would have been medically discharged due to leg injuries so wouldnt have spent much time there but I would have picked up some more driving licence categories.

If you are going Eurostar then Lille is a nice and simple option straight there from St Panc nice old market town with a river through it and lots of nice restaurants and bars
