civilised country we are but jail is too good for the alleged london sword murder if found guilty.

He will try go down the mental health rout like a lot of them do 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ paranoid schizophrenia probably caused by super strength cannabis!!
Am no knocking mental health or schizophrenia
But it seems to be a way out for them

It's horrendous. But the likelihood of the death penalty being reinstated is somewhere between zero and nothing.

I hope he has an extremely uncomfortable time in prison, interspersed with his inmates occasionally explaining to him why what he did was wrong and grows to know the enormity of his crimes and the effects it has on the victims and all who hold them dear and that proves unbearable to him. Should that occur, on so many levels, the rest of his life will be beyond miserable. Ideally a long drawn out stretch of a miserable life that is worse than the short drop at the end of a rope.

Yes, finbar, he will likely claim some sort of mental illness, which might be successful. But even if that prevails, I still hope he is incarcerated for the rest of his natural.

The long drawn out life at the tax payers expense, just a pity the police with tasers got to him before the police with firearms, then we also may have had a hero police officer like Australia.

Sadly the firearms squad would probably have been suspended, then dismissed from active service for having killed a person with mental disability or disorders. The lawyers and papers would see to that, the police officer doing the good deed would be the one suffering the penalty of protecting the public

Sad state of affairs

So many times I read/hear people say when a criminal is put inside that he will be 'sorted' by other inmates or even mention of the wardens putting their bit in.
It happens very rarely indeed because the wardens are there to ensure the inmates are looked after and if there is a problem the warder is reprimanded and can even lose pay should such an incident happen on their watch.
Even the prisoners are watched and any sign of trouble between any of the other prisoners they are separated or watched more closely.
Prisoners today are not in there for punishment, they are inside for reformation.
As a result they live a better life than our own oldies that are put in old folks homes or pensioners living on the bread line in their own homes that they cannot afford to heat properly..
A recent case of this is the Indian that shot WPC Bethaninski 20 years ago and high tailed it back to India.
Now he is 75 years old and has health problems has returned to UK and gave himself up, he was 'awarded' life in prison.
He now has no health worries, heating bills, food bills, accommodation bills, no, nothing to worry about and all he has lost is his freedom but at that age and state of health will not worry him at all.
Our prisons are overcrowded and costing millions and a good percentage of the inmates are foreign killers with no doubt whatsoever of the crime they committed, some even boast of what they did so do not deserve to live, some even have special diets and places set aside for them as they have their own religion.
This country is an absolute disgrace.

I understood that the death penalty is still in place for two crimes in the UK, first treason and secondly arson in His Majesty's Dockyards, perhaps I'm adrift and out of date?

The Crime and Disorder Act 1998 and the Human Rights Act 1998 abolished the death penalty for all remaining crimes.

Then to top it off the daily food budget for prisoners is higher than for schools and the armed forces .

The wardens keep an eye on trouble eh, yet there is a hell of a lot of male rape in every prison.

Ah yes the HRS 1998, one of Bliar’s many legislative plays that have led to the destruction of a once great democratic state. To the enrichment of the legal class who are now our new masters.

There is an exit option if you are younger than say 50, just emigrate. You can always return if you felt it was for you a mistake.

We need the Death Sentence in place again some crimes are 100 % sure ! Also be a deterrent!
The DS is not a deterrent in the USA as they carry on regardless with shootings on a daily basis.
Most of it hardly makes the news, as for Africa their local violent crime never makes it past the radio station.

There is no fix as it is how the world has been heading for a long time which is a shame as it is a lovely planet just the people who live on it can't get along.

Perfectly said sir!
Such a great shame.
Singapore has a death sentence although it is not often used, crime is very very low, and you can happily leave your wallet on a restaurant table knowing it will still be there after you get back from the bathroom.

There is no fix
The fix is that the perpetrators are dead when the death sentence is carried out, they are not getting fat at our expense for the next 20-30 years. I unashamedly will stand up and proclaim that I would willingly be in a firing squad if asked.
Or tie the knot.
Guilty verdict in China means that you are an organ donor in 20 minutes after the gavel has come down, yippee.
