So I shot a young “buck” at last light pretty certain of sex, antlers growing no anal tush…. Too dark to find it in the end so went back today with a couple of dogs. Found it in the burn luckily cooling!
Anyway turns out it was missing some boy appendages ?! I mean how often to doe’s grow antlers is that common? It was in a deerfenced area by good fortune so doe’s under one year (which this clearly was and not carrying a foetus) may be shot on licence.
Anyway is this common?

I believe it's not that uncommon for aged roe does to grow some antler.

I should say the deer was not nursing either just a weird antlered young doe who’s disguised as a button buck.

I've shot one before, about 4-5 years ago I think. I posted some pics on here

I shot a doe a few years ago that was banging a large pheasant feeder with two yearling bucks watching she had two antlers about one inch high just under the skin on top of her head i dont think this was velvet made a hell of a noise banging the bottom of a 200ltr steel drum

Shot an antlered doe at the end of February this year, that had a follower with her. She was the first antlered doe that I have seen.
With the light cover that she was in, it took an age before I was sufficiently sure of what I was looking at to squeeze the trigger.
