Hi all.

Interested to see who people regard to be the top knife maker in the UK Custom market.
Primarily interested in finished quality, edge retention, design etc as a pose to wait time, cost etc, as often the best can have a wait and an associated price tag.

I have tried to put all the UK manufacturer's I can think of, however if I have missed some who should be on there please let me know.

Marc Zabroski Knives

Based on his designs, chosen materials and the quality of accompanying leatherwork.

Sadly his Order Book is now closed so you’ll be looking at a wait of years if registering for notification of when re-opening.

Would’ve said Alan Wood until he stopped making woodlore knives and left a waiting list full of people in the lurch. I’d have expecting him to close the list and honour the order books instead of bailing.

Emberleaf are stunning, not cheap but excellent service. Danum blades nicely made and not horrendously priced

Really? Having seen the quality first hand I’d say he doesn’t make the short list!

How can anybody answer unless they’ve owned multiple knives from each and used them all?

That said there’s 3 names up there that I would say shouldn’t have made the short list just from their photo’s and in one case refusal to answer questions on heat treating and hardness testing of their knives!

Out of the list I either still have or had 6 of the blades and all have been used as they should be and well looked after
The one maker that I will always have in my bag depending on the species is Danum
I like the profile of the blades, the quality of the build and most important they hold a really good edge
Took me a expensive while to get there, but I’m there now 👍

Stuart Mitchell makes series of knives , in batches, seems to sell every batch out but if you are quick you get one or one of the next batch of it’s proving popular, like the Portland series …
