Sad news

RIP Keith.

Keith sent me a Swarovski scope which is actually languishing in a gun safe atm. The swap over from UK to Aus was perfect as was the man himself in his trade.

Just been informed Keith @sikadog passed suddenly Thursday, R.I.P buddy
Im shocked, does anyone know what the cause was ?
I spoke to him not long ago as he wanted to come and stalk some muntjac with me in Hertfordshire again. He came down a few years ago and stopped the night on his way back up north having been to Holts to pick up some cartridges he’d bought at auction. We went for a couple of pints and a bite to eat at a nice pub in Cambridge and I then I picked him up from his hotel at bright and early and he got 3 muntjac that morning, he was delighted, took all three home to pop in his chiller.
I remember him telling me he used to smoke some extraordinary amount of cigarettes a day but gave up a longtime ago to enable him to be fitter and able to breathe on his more physically demanding highland deer stalking holidays.
He’s always been a great help to me when I had a wonky old chiller unit on my walk in chiller. During Covid I was able to buy a nearly brand new used mono block chiller unit from a restaurant that had gone bust for very little money, he explained to me how to check it all over on the phone while I was looking at it and I got a bargain. He then rang me up when I was home and helped me to program the computer on it.
Very sad news, he’d only recently had an operation behind him ( on his back I think) and he said how happy he was to be able to stalk more again without pain. I hope he’s walking the eternal hunting fields now with the sun shining on his back and happiness in his heart.

This thread is testimony to a fine man.
I knew Keith for about 4 years. He was always helpful and knowledgeable on many subjects. He came down a couple of times to me in Norfolk to breath life into my chillers and help get 'previously cherished' lumps up and running again.

It was only last summer that he came down for a stalk and to stay an evening - when we had a lovely meal together and a couple of pints.
I was so pleased when he said his poor back was on the mend. He still had great vision for the future , and was still keen on his search for new projects to take on. #

Sorely missed. I do hope you can hunt on the other side .

Very sad news . Very helpful guy from what I’ve read on here . I gave him one of my rifles a few months ago hope he had some fun with it .

It was a good turn out for him . A Sad day another good one lost to the far off stalking ground .
Rest easy Keith

I am not surprised that a great many attended Keith's funeral.
He will be very much missed by us all, and this site will be the poorer without him.
God bless Keith.
Keith was one of the people I got to know in person, through this site , over a decade ago. A really fantastic person. Without the SD I’d have never have known him.
Sikamalc, you should be very proud of the positivity and kindness that you have enabled to flourish through your hard work in creating this website.
Kindest regards, Olaf
