After talking to a a chap and his daughter ( she was a outward bound instructor about there paramo jackets ) at the stalking show they were camping next to VSS and I .
I bought a second hand paramo jacket .
Yesterday I thought I would try it . Weather was sh...te 7 hrs in the rain fly fishing. Yes I caught two trout.
Verdict. Excellent my body was totally warm and dry.
My other stalking and fishing jackets / smocks would have failed at the seams.
I should have bought one earlier in life. Now l will be looking for a paramo smock

I’ve worn it for years, it really works well, always dry, don’t sweat and quiet material.

They are anti hunting to the extreme though, so controversial. I met with the company and proposed a partnership to sell into the shooting and trade , and I was asked to leave because of the industry.

I think they’re great products, but they do NOT want hunters wearing them it seems 😂

Bizzare

They even support a few 'Anti' organisations, shame as they are bloody good jackets, however I would buy one secondhand (as you did) as I could justify to myself I wasn't handing my money to Paramo

Funny that as they were at the game fair a few years ago
Great kit, draw backs for me
Take a lot of care now
Let in at touch points - sling pack etc
Bit warm

That said very waterproof

I have had a paramo jacket for 6 yrs, still waterproof providing it gets washed every other year following nikwax treatment.....but it never goes stalking, too noisy for my liking.

Have had them for a right fews years now, super jacket, only downside I have is that they are easily torn

I will embrace my hunting with this jacket if it keeps me warm and dry
The irony is I have a lot of Paramo kit and was 'introduced' to it by a Forestery Commission Scotland Ranger when working on a deerstalking article for the Shooting Times many years ago!

I went out of my way on the journey home to find an outdoor clothing shop that stocked Paramo. I still wear their now legendary but discontinued reversible Mountain Pull-Ons.

Been wearing my 2nd hand Paramo jacket for several years now, just gave it a thoroughly needed re proofing with Nikwax and it’s all good again. Great lightweight/quiet jackets IMHO

That’s good value, think I paid £120 or so but that was probably 5-6 years ago, it’s still going strong and I see no reason why I wouldn’t get the same again out of it so all things considered I’d say a bit of a steal

Just had a look at the Paramo website. A banner at the top says that their workshop is swamped with garment repair work. Makes you wonder.

Cheers

There's a few wear them on the shoot. They look light, well made and are indeed by all accounts waterproof. But it appears not breathable. Is that right? I know they have vents that you can open though. I do wonder how they would fare if you were having to go through bushes or crawling on hard-ish ground too. For the price they are new, they better be good. I've half a mind to get one next time the shrapnel in my head moves and I get the urge for another jacket.
