Spring watch and Autumn watch. I love the basic idea of the joy of finding a birds nest, peering into and seeing eggs, and then watching over a matter of days and weeks the young grow and fledge.
As a boy this was a wondrous thing to do. My father is fantastic at finding birds nests and we would find them all in the hedgerows around our house, and I would check them before and after school each day.
And spring watch does this for kids and grown kids that don’t have immediate access to nature, but does so through the medium of TV and nowadays the interwebulator with live feeds into nests.
When it first came on my young daughter was glued to it.
But now it has been completely and utterly ruined by the presenters, so much so that I haven’t watched it for a number of years and it is I believe being axed.
