Live filmed knife attack in Mannheim Germany against an anti islam group.

The Mannheim police shot dead a knifer (machete) rampaging in the uni library last December and another perp was shot dead 23rd April in the city, now this. Seems stay away from Mannheim is good advice.

In Sweden shooting and handgrenade attacks are are not unusual. These are normally confined to certain areas of big cities and then its various gangs shooting or blowing up their rivals
Hopefully the tides is slowly turning. If what I have been reading is correct Sweden is not a preferred destination for a certain demographic any more.

Where would they likely obtain the live grenades from?.

Yup

Been involved in many live blade incidents over a number of years in a previous role

The worst place to be when dealing with anyone with a blade is close up, unless you have the ability to incapacitate quickly and efficiently

Difficult but not impossible with open hand, less so with a Asp or Mx21

Being “switched on” attending an incident is one thing, walking with your family or alone is quite another

Some people have zero spatial awareness to surroundings or the dangers that lie about in plain sight

A wake up call to us all

Stay safe on your travels my friend
It is difficult to maintain a high level of situational awareness all the time , but in some parts of the world it's becoming increasingly necessary . I've spent a lot of time in places where tourists don't go , I learned to keep my head on a swivel very quickly .

Great analogy - head on swivel 👌

A police officer who was left in critical condition after a mass stabbing in the German city of Mannheim on Friday has died, local authorities say.

The 29-year-old was one of six people, including anti-Islam activist Michael Stürzenberger, to be wounded by the attacker, who was detained at the scene.

Very sad news

Awful news,

First time I have seen such an event, that bad guy was quick and determined. It was the speed of his movements which surprised me.

Should have emptied the magazine into him.

Just read that the policeman who was attacked while cuffing the peaceful demonstrator has died.
Should have focussed on the bloke with the blade.
What miserable times are these?
I've read several comments like this. The police man acted in the heat of the moment during a frenzied knife attack. He read the situation wrong and paid for it with his life. I bet the commentators about the policeman's action would stand there and **** them selves if they were in the same situation.
I've the greatest respect for that policeman

The policeman’s job was to provide safety for all, he was brave enough to put himself in the midst of an ongoing fight to protect others. He was not armed with all the facts he did not have a video to play back. He reacted to the ongoing disturbance in front of him and separated the two people fighting.

The fact that his correct actions are being judged by the internet playback brigade is a sad indictment for our society.

The family and friends of the that officer will have to know that his stabbing is being debated online and his judgement second guessed by people sat in the luxury of the living room with little knowledge of the situation he observed and his decision making process leading to his death in the real world the angles change and you can not press pause.

The police officer should be applauded for his actions and his willingness to protect his community.

Sincere sympathies to the late officers family and friends, truly a tragic end to a brave young man’s life.
I have never been in such a situation and hope to remain that way but it strikes me that it may be very difficult to differentiate a knife stab where someone needs shooting from a punch in a fist fight where they probably do not. Blackened blades may make it even more difficult. The officer who died also had his back to his attacker so he was a sitting duck.

wasn't doubting his qualities or his motivations, just that a) it shouldn't have happened in a civilised country, the fact that it did is proof of the failure of our politicians to protect the people b) he actually caused the attack on himself inadvertently, by removing and cuffing the man that had restrained the assailant.
By the way...brave enough...it was his job. That is what he signed up for when he took the job and no matter how detestable his murder (for it surely was murder) it is an inescapable fact that that was what was required of him. You seem to forget that.
